I spotted one of these in the nearly empty case at Academy yesterday:

Who knew such a thing existed? This is a Joker model Heritage 16" Rough Rider. Now I wonder how long I can resist this intriguing specimen.

I’m considering one myself. I have a love for buntlines and as cheap as these are it’s hard to not take the plunge. I’m even more interested in the carbine version though, although the price for the carbine makes me question whether the stock is worth the extra money over a buntline.

The range I go to has one as a rental. It is a fun gun to shoot and pretty accurate.
They make it as a rifle too.

I took the plunge and bought an HRR at a discount, PLUS I applied the "free NRA membership" to a year extension of my NRA membership.

I am out less than $90 for a 7/8 scale SAA replica which actually shoots almost as accurately as my Ruger MkII and which compliments my Marlin .22 leveraction rifle better.

A friend of mine just bought a rough rider but it's not the buntline. It is accurate and functional, but it is not very smooth.

Maybe it needs more of a break in period.

But for the money, it would be unreasonable to expect the quality of an old Colt or a Ruger.

The MSRP is pricey on the HRR carbine. But suggested retail price is a max. Actual store price above wholesale may be less.
Personally, tho, I am happy with a HRR revolver as a sidekick to my Marlin 39A Mountie carbine.

The 16in barrel always seemed like a novelty to me ( akin to your giant pairs of sunglasses)

But I really enjoy my rough rider with a more....traditional length barrel. I’d bet they are accurate though!
