Don't "hot press" them. You don't have enough material.
 
Depending on how hard the remaining material is, riveting may not be an option.

I am the son of depression era parents. I understand the whole thing about buy it new, where it out, make it do or do without. But, at some point, your time has to be more valuable than trying to resurrect three busted knives. Decent paring knives can be had for as little as $5 each, less on sale.

One of the forums was talking about repurposing knives and other broken tools. Depends how good this steel may be. I picked up a handful of old knives from the donated barrel at the knife shop. Some are circular file due to the crappy steel. Others will be made into paring type knives.

This pair came in the other day from an owner who has enjoyed using them since the mid 60's. These will be re-handle projects that the patina will remain. The owner was really happy that they can be refreshed for regular use again.
