Buy 16" 300BLK Now & SBR Barrel Later?

Guys sorry if this is a stupid question.

Would it make sense to buy a 16" Noveske (or other) 300 BLK now & convert to SBR later? That way I can shoot & have fun while I am trudging through the stamp process to obtain the barrel.

As far as the Forms go I assume I would have to get the stamp before the short barrel.

Please advise.

A friend is pulling his hair out trying to make a carbine length gas system work on his cut down to 10.2" barreled 300blk. Just buy whatever barrel length you want now, and buy a new short barrel with pistol length gas system later when you want to SBR it.

or buy the upper now and put it on a "pistol" lower, and then put a stock on it when you get the stamp

The less expensive route is to buy the short barrel you want, and build a "pistol" until your tax stamp gets back. Then, put a butt stock on it.
