Looks like I'd save over $1k by going with the AP5. (This isn't a matter of being able to afford/not afford)
I plan to shoot whatever I get. Not a safe queen.

I'm still 50/50, but the big reason I am hesitant to just order the AP5 is...will I still want the real deal HK if I buy the AP5?

The SP5 could appreciate in value as time passes. Doubt the AP5 would. I don't plan to sell, but you never know so have to factor everything in.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Opinions?

I have the Zenith version of the AP5 from back when they imported it. It's been a fantastic gun.

But Jimbo80 makes a really good point. If you really want an actual HK, it'll always eat at you a little if you go with the AP5.

If I was in the market for just this type of pistol I would go with the HK SP5 as well. It also kind of sounds like, as C-grunt mentioned, that you may come to regret not going the extra distance by "settling" for the AP5, instead of getting the SP5 in the first place. Something else to consider is what kind of importer and/or factory support can you expect from Century Arms and HK.

They have slightly different features and build style. The AP5 is more of a retro version and the SP5 is a more modern version. I would get the version you would enjoy more or that better fits your planned use for the weapon. The good news is that I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Picked up my SP5 yesterday. Now i want to add an SP5K. However, if I do, I will likely add the century Arms clone for that one.

I just ordered the RRL ACR stock adapter, ACR stock, Haga Defense ACR tailhook adapter & tailhook mod1
