Hey guys, I need some knowledge.

I am looking to buy a part for my AR-15. It's the early Colt 601 Prototype ball-detent pivot pin. I am going to slabside my lower as I want a 601 copy.

I found a site that actually sells the original-spec pins. Problem? I think they only deal with businesses. I'm gonna call tomorrow and check it out.

The part has an NSN number. If I have this number, can't I order it from other places?

Does anybody have any connections or know any places that I can order this part from if this place falls through?

I presume you've checked Numrich, but failing that... a "ball-detent pivot pin"

Sounds like something a moderately talented 'smif could fab up for you, provided you're willing to settle for funtional and don't need authentic Colt.

sort of. The Bushy pin sticks out the other side of the lower and uses the opposite side to brace on. the original-spec pin had the ball about 2/3 of the way up and used a groove machined into the hinge on the upper to brace on.

I have an original Air Force upper with the proper groove, so I want the actual "military" pin. The other pin would work, assuming it could be had in the "standard" pin size, but it would stick out too far and be wrong.
