Buying a Used Over Under

Depends how you are buying and who you are buying from.

Buying over the web? Most give a complete discription and can be returned if not in the condition stated.
Buying from a local dealer? you can check the gun right there in the shop.
Buying from a private owner? same thing if their local.

Things to look for:
Tight action(locks up tight, lever slightly to the right in most cases)
Bores bright and shiny ( no pits or rust)
Breech face ( clean with no nicks or grooves)
Bluing (this is really your call) I look for 90% or better (no rust or pitting)
Wood (again your call) No cracks, finish 90% or better minor surface or handling marks can be expected (again your call ).

One last thing : know your prices or what the gun is currently bringing on the market. Blue book is a good start, but if the gun is in great shape and is a little more than BB value, if you want it bad enough be prepared to spend a "tad" more..................Good luck in your search!
