C Cartwright 10-5

Old Smiths, like old Colts, tend to grow on you. I didn't used to like barrels over 5" on .38 SPL or lesser caliber revolvers but in the past few years I've grown to appreciate the 6" barrels. I'm hoping my heirs will sell off all my polymer-framed striker pistols and hang on to all my old revolvers. $550 seems like a great price these days for a nice old S&W .38.
Something about a 6” taper barrel smith that feels & looks good!

you like cap & ball guns?

your heirs will do you right!

Well I hope your experience will mirror mine.

29 years ago I thought nothing could ever out shoot my Colt Gold Cup.

Then after shooting my Wilson Combat for the very first time, I have not shot the Colt since.

Yes, their is a huge difference.
I have a Gold Cup that I absolutely LOVE! it’s a 1982, the lines and contrasts, even the font. A1!

Range Report on the NH & Roberts soon!

Nice S&W Mark. I remember when I first started buying these things, one of the first ones I picked up was a 10-5, with a 5" barrel, box and papers. I was too dumb to know what I had, and like so many other guns, I traded/sold it off for something else. It was a great shooter though.

Today I've got a similar one to yours. A 1951 M&P with a 6" barrel and the gold/blue box. There is something about those matte finish post war guns I really like. Maybe because I'm sort of a dull finish, post war guy myself.

The old M&P seems to like wadcutters, but then I don't think I've ever seen a 38/357 that didn't.

Enjoy it. It's hard not to really.

My Gold Cup is early 80’s as well, and I am the original owner.

I absolutely loved it until I shot the Wilson.

However, having thought things over, being an old man now that can’t shoot 25 yards for the life of me; I bet the differences between the two guns are far less now.

I need to bust that GC out of the safe for a new Pepsi challenge
