I have been using RCBS Reloader Special 5 single stage press for my sizing/deprime duties.

I am adding C&H Champion single stage press to the bench I picked up at the last gun show. It accepts my Lee dies and shell holders. I am not familiar with this press other than from their website: http://www.ch4d.com/catalog/?p=59

Anyone have experience with this press? The mounted press tilts towards the back instead of straight up and down like the RCBS. Mine looks newer with different mid section where primer feeder mounts and has larger pivot mount where bottom of ram attaches do:

I have one of the older ones as well and at least those versions had the top of the ram hardned for swaging operations. Not sure about the current versions as sold by 4D in Ohio. You can do bullet swage and case forming with ease with this press. Dean Grennel used one for years for swaging operations and is shown in his ABC'S of reloading books he has published. The press requires a strong bench and solid bracing to the floor. It should serve you well for many years of use.

The only problem with the slant type press, is that if you use it to resize your brass will slightly tilt and some times hit the expander ball or die edge. If the shellholder is tight this will not be much of a problem. This is something I noticed with an older Lyman slant type press I had. C&H made good stuff.

True. I often guide the case on the way up. Usually don't have to, but it gets to be a habit. Mine is also from the early 60s. They last forever.

In the big inning most presses had a tilt, this prevented the user from cutting the rear table legs shorter, RCBS built presses that were were designed to be either or then they built a press that did not tilt, the ram was perpendicular, consumers complained, RCBS made an adapter (kit) plate wedge, by using the the wedge the press had the familiar tilt, then most of the makers of tilt back presses went out of business, a wedge can still be ordered from RCBS,some older presser came with the wedge adapter.

Shell holders are not equal, shell holders used for some tilt back press fit, the advantage to the tilt, the user did not have to lean over to see what was going on.
