I just received the paperwork to send for my C&R license. I was wondering how many of you have a C&R license and what were some of the best benefits you got from having the license.
Rusty

I've had my C&R for a little over a year and have purchased only one gun with it, a CZ 45 .25 ACP made in 1948. That one purchase saved me the .075 sales tax (face to face sale) and a NICS background check of $25.

That one purchase saved me the cost of the license. You also can get FFL prices from distributors such as Brownells and Midway.

After you get one you just seem to find new benifits everyday :) you get firearms shipped right to your house, no waiting period here in Illinois on C&R guns, dealer prices from some places even if you're ordering parts for modern guns (Brownells and Midway for example). IMHO best $30 ever.

yes....for the most part.

If its a collectors edition gun sometimes you can buy it with a C&R even if its new....because its a collector item. You know the type, M1 Garand with engraving and fancy stock with medallion embedded in it, that sort. 1911 with fancy engraving....special edition stuff.

I buy alot of SKS, Mosins, K98s, CZ52s with mine.

Brownells considers C&R holders the same as 01FFL holders.....save close to 25% on some items. First order with them payed for the entire license.

No it's not a dealers license, but on the sites that give you a dealer's discount on parts, most will extend those discounts to modern gun parts. Any item that requires an FFL will still need to be shipped to one thought.

After Midway set up my account to reflect my C&R status, I saved $50 on my next order. It was also nice to have my Yugo mauser and K31 delivered to my door.

C&R is a good deal

I can't recommend the C&R license enough. This license paid for itself in the first transaction. FFL fees in Northern VA typically run 15 to 65 bucks. With the C&R, all you are doing is paying shipping and those firearms can come straight to the residence listed on the FFL. I have also used it at gunshows with varying degrees of success. Some dealers love 'em, as it saves them paperwork during a busy period. Some dealers hate 'em as they see you as competition. Remember, you are now buying weapons for the same price that they are. The C&R also gets me discounts from Brownells, and it is getting me into the Shot Show in Orlando as proof that I am "in the business".

It's the best 30 bucks you will ever spend.

Just sending it to Midway and Brownells for the dealer discount was enough reason to get it, not to mention all the cheap K31's and SKSs.

If I'd never purchased a gun with it, it more than paid for itself on my first Midway order.

Agreed. I've found that it's also the most expensive $30 I ever spent. I've thought about asking ATF to amend my license from "collector" to "accumulator"

this shipping firearms to your home though is only for the collectables correct? Who decides whata collectable is defined as, other than the broad limits set by the government.

Ok - I have a C&R, you end up buying guns you really don't want and get stuck with the paperwork. I wouldn't do it again.

I can order anything and have it shipped to the pawnshop 10min from my house. Cost's me $10 more. e.g. the FN HP's from CDNN.

Heard somewhere recently that the C & R License was pretty high up in the Antis' list of things to get rid of. Can anyone confirm this? Probably not new news, but wondered about it.

What paperwork? You mean the 1 line worth of info you keep on a piece of loose leaf paper and store in a 3 ring binder?

Here's what the .gov says you can collect (plus 2 updates):

Exercising a little willpower will cure that. :D

get stuck with the paperwork
This is the same information you should be keeping track of on ALL firearms you purchase in case of theft or other loss that you want insurance reinbursement for.

Additionally, the discount licensees are provided by a number of merchants make the license even more attractive.

For $30 you get a three-year ticket to the candy store.

Not only can you get discounts, if you buy on-line from an out-of-state dealer you don't have to pay state sales taxes. Depending upon where you reside, that may offset the shipping and handling costs, as well as the local FFL dealer's fee to "receive" your firearm for you. In some cases you will be buying from the same dealers your local FFL dealer buys from, and at the same prices.

The down side is that you may be tempted to spend a lot of money on cool old stuff. (Don't ask how I know this.)

You are not going to save anything. Your dollars will go futher and your wallet will still be empty , (just be carefull with the plastic) you will have more "stuff"
