fingerprinted every time you buy ammunition? wow.

Its already like that in Sacramento. Went to a store to buy some ammo, and was amazed at what I had to do to get it. Finger printed, driver's license, and they wrote down exactly what I bought, not just the caliber.

So with a new tax on the ammo, that will drive up the black market prices, too. Then the evildoers will have to rob more places and people at gunpoint so they can afford their bullets.

Who in their right mind thinks this will stop criminals from getting bullets? It will only create a bigger black market, and a bigger headache for me when I move to California in a year.

What the hell is handgun ammo?? Most ammo I see on the shelf can be fired from a handgun or a rifle. Can't you just say your buying it for a Hi-Point or a levergun or something?

wow. That's all I can say is wow. Just when I thought CA was about as restrictive as it could be, they found yet another pointless way to intimidate gun owners. That's clearly what this is, an attempt to intimidate people into not buying ammo.

Despite a flood of phone calls, letters and e-mails the assembly passed the Ammunition Restriction bill. We have really got to vote these morons out of office when they become due.

Relax, it is for your own safety.

The liberal political hacks in Kalif couldn't care less about gun owners. All they care about is pushing thru "feel good" laws so they have something to brag about. They are afraid to go against the criminals. There are just too many liberals in Kalif...it's a useless fight.

The vast majority of politicians don't know a thing about firearms and the wording of some of the laws proves it. The NRA doesn't want to spend their funds on Kailf because they know it's a useless fight. Again, too many idiot liberals who believe what their liberal politicians tell them.

Another problem, and this is true for the entire country, is that only a few gun owners belong to the NRA. Get those membership numbers up and you will see the NRA in Kalif big time.

After 56 yrs in that socialist state I finally left. Just couldn't handle the assault on my rights, illegal aliens, traffic, illegal aliens, crowds, illegal aliens, high taxes, illegal aliens, etc. Did I mention all the illegal aliens?

My efforts mimic other CA folks in this thread: $$/letters/phone calls. It's not enough. I spent hours yesterday calling and talking face-to-face with friends/family/co-workers about this bill. Not gun buddies. One person of the 28 people I preached to gave a damn. One. For the first time, I felt the indifference surrounding me and it was almost overwhelming. I can't fault folks for jumping ship, but I think in the long run they're just jumping to another part of the same ship.

For most people, guns are not a 'pocketbook issue'. They are not a part of their lives; violent crime really does touch very few families.

The current guess is that fewer than 40% of households have a gun of any kind; the only exposure most folks have to guns is what they see on TV. That plus what the politicians tell them provides an overall negative, 'well, the police must know best' kind of attitude.
