Yeah, nah. With commercial ammunition, it shoots 6 1/2" low and 1 3/4" low on average at ten yards.

The point of aim was the center of the upper target. I shot six rounds of hot .32 Long first; those are the higher ones. The bottom four are .32 Magnum (only loaded four). This was from a standing position, single action. The one at the bottom left is probably a flyer, so I'm discounting it in my measurements for averages of the Magnum round.

On the bright side, their customer service responded to my help request on their website in about two minutes. They're sending a prepaid return box, so we'll see how that goes.

I guess I didn't wait long enough after the reports of bad sight alignment. It's a shame, because the gun points and handles really well. If you're thinking about one of these, waiting a while might be a good idea.

I don't know how CA is going to fix that. Going by your photos in the other thread, the front sight is as low as possible already. CA would have to build up the rear sight into something higher than the frame itself.

I guess the top of the barrel would have to be reduced and the sight re-attached. Looking forward to finding out.

I had the same problem. So I machined the front sight to get the POI corrected. Then, after a couple hundred more rounds the failures-to-fire due to the hammer mainspring weakening became unacceptable. CA was not able to correct the problem. I got a Wolff heavier-than-normal mainspring, but I cannot trust this thing anymore.

But... I still want one!

Options:
machine the front sight base lower. OR! Machine the top of the frame to be flat and accept a S&W sight!

Or... just pass. I've got about a dozen irons in the fire right now, and a couple of them are pretty big irons... And this is with all the extra time I have since shooting competitions have been cancelled due to the Corvid...

I'm kinda bummed.

I am bummed to hear this too, I was really hoping for a different outcome. Pretty sure I will be adding an .32 H&R soon, and the professional was high on my list. Guess not...

Any idea what the production date of your gun is AZAndy?

If it’s a recent production gun and still has this problem then CA isn’t even trying to fix the design.

I don't know of a way to date it. The serial number is 20F10638, if you want to compare with known good or known bad units.

Yeah, not a whole lot of choices there, are there? I used to have a Single Six in that chambering, and like a doofus, I got rid of it. If somebody would see fit to do a 6-shot snubnose, I'd grab that immediately.

They are supposedly fixing it on a newer model by adding adjustable rear sights on the newest ones. That would put the rear sight higher and bring POI up.

I may have to resort to one of your ideas, so thanks for passing them along. I'm determined to make this thing work if Charter can't, because I'd like to carry a .32 revolver of some kind.

Call them and ask about putting an adj sight on it. They told me they could mount an adjustable sight on a new one from the factory- maybe they can retrofit one on yours.

^ If they do offer to add an adjustable rear sight, lemme know. I'd be happy to send mine in for such work.

I was going to say that I was surprised that Charter Arms wasn’t / isn’t very forthcoming with information but then I remembered that the last three guns I sent to S&W were returned with incorrect or vague information so these kinds of issues aren’t just isolated to one revolver manufacturer.

I have been considering getting my first CA revolver. This is good info to know about regarding this particular model.

Thank you.

I've been bummed to hear this. So far, my experience with CA has been exceptional. A lot of gun for your buck.
