Today, 12/31, the CA AG supplied the title and summary, and now the signatures may be gathered to put this abomination on the ballot.

See http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/ball...us/initiatives-referenda-cleared-circulation/

and the text of the measure at http://www.oag.ca.gov/system/files/initiatives/pdfs/15-0098 (Firearms)_0.pdf

Licenses to buy ammo. Background checks for ammo purchases. No more internet shipments - must go through a CA-licensed FFL.

Large-capacity magazines (CA's silly classification for those that hold 11 or more) completely banned, even those from before the 2000 law.

I thought this had already been ruled against. An appeal filed? We can certainly buy off the internet now.

It was, in January 2011 (Parker v California). State appealed Feb 2014; that's still ongoing.

This is an initiative, where Newsom and fellow-travellers are trying to get the Penal Code changed by a ballot measure.

For the mechanics of initiatives, see the CA Secretary of State site, http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/ballot-measures

Summary:
  1. Submit - done
  2. Get title and summary - done
  3. Collect required number of signatures (365,880) by required date (June 28, 2016)
  4. Submit signatures
  5. Sec State validates number (more precisely, SS directs counties individually to verify signatures from the respective counties)
  6. IF correct number of valid signatures, put on ballot
  7. Campaign with lies and exaggeration
  8. Vote.

Not in Los Angeles. When you go on an internet site that sells ammo they tell you they can't ship to your zip code.
That is not state law. It probably isn't even Los Angeles law, based on how they wrote their Municipal Code, but were I a vendor, I might also be reluctant to sell into LA City.

Find a smarter set of ammo vendors - many seem still to sell into LA.

Do it soon - if this initiative should pass, things will Be Ugly.
