Wow, thanks. Been wanting an 1860 and was considering the Pietta 1860 London model ($300), but couldn't pass this deal up!

That's a great price. I paid $229 for mine on sale, and it's a great shooter. Pietta is making some really good single actions (centerfire and cap & ball) nowadays.

Now you'll have a 'pair' of them. Did you know that a pair of pistols is known as a 'brace of pistols'? Now you know. :D

I should have bought a couple .44 brass framed confederate Navies earlier in the week... they had them listed at $139. Now they're "on sale" for $179.

jj1962hemi,

Many are here that would welcome you to the dark side........

and let's face it that is a good deal on a nice pistol.

Thanks for the invite! Can you shoot a BP pistol in an indoor range? (I would guess not, but I'm not sure)

Can you shoot a BP pistol in an indoor range?

It depends on the range. As long as it's properly ventilated it's OK. My dad belongs to a club with a very well ventilated indoor range. All the smoke is blown down towards the targets, then up and outside. I shot my Pietta .36 Remington there last weekend, AAMOF.

Just put my order in. This will pair up nicely with my 1848??? Navy, which is a fantastic shooter.

Now will have to build a display case/box for this ‘brace’.

Chris

jj1962hemi, you need to come over to the dark side. Once you go black, you never go back.
You'll still like your smokeless cartridge guns, but you'll never be quite the same.

How does the Pietta 1860 grip feel, compared to the Uberti 1860? I fondled the Uberti at my LGS and the grip didn't feel right to my hand.
Funny thing, the 3 Ubertis I fondled at the LGS (1860 Colt, 1862 Colt Pocket popo, and Remington New Army) had actions that felt kinda rough.
I'm sure they'd get better with use, but for that much more money than a Pietta?
Are they REALLY that much better than Pietta?

If I bought one of these 179 dollar Pietta 1860s, I'd just chop the barrel and install a bird's head grip.

I've been wanting one of these for years so i ordered myself one
But I'm freaking deployed right now and wont be home to shoot it for another 2 months my wife is gonna have to sign for it and show it to me on skype
good deal though

2 months, dang. At least your wife can fondle it (the revolver) and tell you how it feels in the hand, until you can get back and make smoke.

That's the price I got my Pietta 1860 for last year, thanks to those tempting Cabelas' sales. Prices like that are great for getting people to sample black powder. I'm one of the samplers, not one of the hardcore enthusiasts. :D

So far, my Pietta 1860 has been a really great shooter the few times I've taken it out. Mine came with a very light trigger for what I'm used to in handguns.

I wished the indoor ranges around here would let me shoot cap and ball. Only the outdoor ranges let me do that. :(

There's nothing wrong with fondling a gun, Mykeal. Get yer mind outta de gutter. :)

The $5 shipping promo code is 2DADSDAY and is good through 6-17-12. It's no longer shown on their website but I had gotten an email ad from them last week that I had not deleted yet. Hope this helps someone.
