My Christmas wish list needs an all purpose gun vise for cleaning, minor gunsmithing and for photography of guns.

I'm looking at either the Cabela's Gun Vice (but not the Cabela's Hardwood Gun Vice) or the Tiptons. Any opinions about which one - or different is most useful? (in a Swiss Army knife kind of way)

Or a different model in a similar price range?

Thanks.

I prefer the Cabalas, but I made my own.

The little storage compartments are very handy for catching parts, screws, cleaning rod tips, cleaning equipment, etc.

Good enough for me. About $35 locally.

They make a similar one with covered storage for about $5 more. I gave that one to my uncle after my dad moved to assisted living.

Since it's a wish list, pick the most expensive one. :)

I picked up the Cabela's one for $30 on sale earlier this fall. Only used it a few times, but it works reasonably well enough. Not sure it is worth $50, however.
