Anything I'm comfortable and familiar with. A 11½" shorty .223 AR for small game (hunting with it for 31+ years now), R25 in .308 for most medium and big game in treestand or blind, Mini30 or Deerfield Carbine for driven deer hunts, Remington 7600 in .35 Whelen for driven/stalking moose and an Accurate Innovations custom Weatherby Mark V in .375H&H for anything that might as well kill me instead. Revolvers boil down to a 6" Colt Anaconda, every time.First poster here, I've been interested to hear what people want and have the most confidence in for when they're hunting
I have already taken a very nice 169" trophy whitetail with my t/c Hawken.....

I have taken lesser trophies with other caplock rifles, but I would like to take one with my flintlock.

But the rifle's pretty..... maybe that's why she stops at "near"?
Heckling aside, the words new rifles appeared, but no pictures followed!
Nope I reckon that one is even LESS likely to shoot itself around here! Looks rugged but stylish! You will no doubt be chagrin to learn... that this one is also chambered in .270 WCF.

I shot a Ruger 77 Bi-centennial 270 for several years. If memory serves, I retired it after taking 22 whitetails, 2 mulies, 2 pronghorns, a bobcat and a turkey with it.My go-to is an old Ruger M77 MK II, in 30.06, with a 3-9X50 Leupold scope.

Yep, bought new in Houston in 1980 just before moving to Colorado for a SynFuel project. Still have the original stock; currently wearing one of the first versions of synthetic from B&C in a "Western" camo pattern@George P is your 700 BDL 7MM REM MAG a lefty?
But not on a historical high speed 130 gr chunk of lead! Why? Cuz of your lineage and my humor! You suck, I choked on my coffee.
Some people might shake their head, but I have a Zastava Mauser in .458 WM. I load the Mauser with cast lead bullets ala 45/70 velocities, and hunt with it. The brass lasts forever, and it's a real thumper in the game fields.
My favorite hunting rifle is fast becoming my 338-06. Very interesting.
