Gentlemen,
This file give us some data on the M1 Garand Rifle at Camp Perry in 1940. Notice how this Officer is looking for a good review. It also tells us some info on the 1939 shoot at Perry. I hope some of you find this of interest. Let me know what you think of this file.

I find it interesting how the letter tells of the smoking forends. If one were to get a new walnut stock and treat it with "the original stuff" from The Real Milk Paint Company (IIRC, the original vendors of the original sealant on the original stocks, etc), would it smoke to the same degree as mentioned?

The procession from "formal" to "informal" letter in the middle of point 3 is kind of humerous.

That officer sounded pretty desperate to create a favorable impression!

And what exactly is a "punk follower"?

Interesting that a Capt would address a Lt Col with such an informal tone in an offical letter. I don't think he would last long in today's military.

Wes, you know, followers that stay out all night, wear ripped and mis-matched clothes, spike and color their hair, and tend to talk with fake british accents.:D

Edit: IIRC, wasn't the Marine Corps still using the m1903a3 until 1944?
