Campaign Finance - The Supremes Have Spoken

The SCOTUS has at least 5 total idiots in it's midst. Thank you Sandra Day O'Sorry for trashing the Constitution. You expect it from Stevens, Breyer, Ginsburg and the other liberal idiot who's name escapes me now. Good thing these morons didn't take Silvera. We might not have a 2nd amendment if they had.

I think I am on the verge of giving up on my government. Thank god there is the www.freestateproject.org which is having a lot of success in NH despite only having a bit over 220 members in state, and 5000+ more on their way.

I wonder if any states will ban this law and refuse to enforce it or cooperate with the feds, I doubt many will.:(

Four of the justices came down on the correct side. Letting Clinton appoint those two Ginsburg and Breyer got us this. Thank you Ross Perot supporters! :cuss:

The three branches of government are supposed to check each other. Too bad in this case each one seems to favor the strangulation of free speech prior to elections.

The powers-that-be want to stay in power.

The system failed in this case. The FF would be aghast.

Day by day we are moving toward "soft fascism." This is a 5-4 Nation. The emerging question is whether the Two Americas are still reconciliable. There are probably at least 150 million Americans who don't want to live in a socialist America and sure as hell don't want to pay for it. What do they do next? The next Election is all but irrelevant in that few to none of the critical issues--immigration is surely one, among many--are being touched. Instead the country is being progressively run by The Levelers. This decision moves us inevitably toward controlled elections.

The most telling graph out of the three news stories I have read on this so far is always the final one:

"The court has given government an extensive role in the area on grounds that there is a fundamental national interest in rooting out corruption or even the appearance of it. That concern justifies limitations on the freedom of speech, the court has said."

So, you have the right to free speech, unless there is a fundamental national interest that justifies the limitations of that speech.

And no, you silly little peasants don't get to have a say in what is or what is not a "fundamental national interest."

Sez Waitone,

"3>Cut out the crap of constitution amendments to protect the public from rogue courts. Figure a way for the legislative branch to trump the judiciary."

You DID notice that it was the legislative branch that wrote this abortion we're talking about? Didn't you?

BigG: We could also thank the Bush supporters because he actually signed it. There is a lot more blame there, but blamming anyone other than those who voted for or signed it is silly.

I am not surprised a little bit! I had already some posts here "what's our constitution worth?"

THE CONSTITUTION IS WORTH NOTHING! Our "rights" went fast down the sewer.

The elements who want to destroy the idea of a free country are very successful. We are nothing more than a USSR called USA.

Rant over

I heard Hannity talking about this on my way home a little while ago. Thoughts that came to mind:

1) Did I just hear the camel's back breaking?
2) I hope I don't have to fire the first shot.
3) Thank goodness SCOTUS didn't grant cert to Silveira.
4) Someone with 'Kennedy' as a last name voted on the right side??? :scrutiny:
5) More ammo. I need more ammo.

You DID notice that it was the legislative branch that wrote this abortion we're talking about? Didn't you?
Yep! I can't get at SCOTUS. It is literally above the law. But I can get my hands around the throat of my elected officials in the legislative and executive branch. Those people I can get at every multiple of 2 years through entirely legal means. I can not fight directly SCOTUS. I can fight my congressional vermin. I can refuse to vote incumbant. I can vote for a tribalist (AKA libertarian).

I guess the really good news here is finally, once and for all, the public can see in exquisite detail the war which has been fought over the second amendment. The second amendment was merely realistic training for the really big fight. If SCOTUS and imcumbants attack part of the first amendment without penalty, rest assured follow-on attacks will happen.

Somehow I'm beginning to think civil disobedience is in order.

blamming anyone other than those who voted for or signed it is silly.

Dustind: Mebbe so, but the voters who wanted to send the big two parties a message by voting for Perot sure didn't help things by putting that criminal idjit in with their protest votes.

It's fairly clear that Supremes become more activist as they get older. Some of the :cuss: are active as soon as they get appointed.

LiquidTension:
From what I understand, Kennedy is one of the more conservative Justices. Only Scalia, Thomas and Reinquest (I think I butchered his name) are more conservative. Controversal cases are usually decided by whichever way O'Conner votes, she's gotten pretty whacky in the last few years.

Kharn

Given statements she's made recently, O'Conner probably checked with the World Court before she wrote her opinion...:banghead:

Jeff

This is unbelievable. Bush screwed up the 1st royally, and probably forever.

This is an even sadder day than when the AW ban was passed.

Tejon,

Yes, very ironic. THEY see corruption. And we see most of Government as beyond the pale.

This is a dark day. It is shocking that our entire culture can be overturned by two or three people out of three hundred million.
