I have a travel trailer that I'm going to take for camping in California. My understanding is that when transporting a handgun, all magazines need to be empty and the handgun locked up in a case (or other locking device).

Am I allowed to have a loaded firearm *inside* my trailer, since it's more of a residence, not really a vehicle?

A man with a gun! has it right; when parked, generally the trailer is your residence and loaded inside is fine.

Caveat: it depends on where you camp - for example, California State Parks are no-loaded-gun.

And while transporting, your guns must be unloaded. Removable magazines may have ammunition in them, they need not be empty, but loaded mags must not be in the gun(s).

its not always yes.

as mentioned state camp grounds its no, some federal its also no.

. Those are some strict rules in California.

I guess i know the mindset of the Cal. transplants that give me "concerned" looks when im OCing at a camp ground or on a trail. Some have even tried telling me the State laws as far as carrying a firearm. They even had a Sheriff deputy called down to investigate.
