Yes, all you need is a 40 to 9mm conversion barrel from a company like Storm Lake or Lone Wolf and some 9mm mags.

So easy a caveman can do it!

This may make a Homo Erectus mad with this statement. The problem with that is, if like you said - a caveman can swap the barrels on a Glock - then you have to worry about him actually using the Glock as a result of his rage.

40-9 G27 Conversion

This was such a good conversion for my 27 I bought a model 26. Then my wife claimed the 26 so now I'm back to the 27 with Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrel when I want a subcompact 9mm. Win-Win situational all around.

They all beat me to it. But yes, it is as easy as swapping the barrel and grabbing some G26,19, and/or 17 mags.

In my experience (shooting a G23 with Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel), I have not had a malfunction and accuracy has been on par with the standard .40 S&W barrel.

I know the Glock 20/21 to .50 GI conversion kit includes a new magazine and slide (recoil spring, barrel, and slide included).

I'm not sure about other Glock conversions such as .40 to .357 but on a Glock 27 specifically converting .40 to 9 mm, no you don't have to change the recoil spring. Some have advocated changing the ejector though but personally I haven't had an issue with my Lone Wolf so I leave it alone.

If this is a range toy or conversion to use cheaper practice ammo then by all means just buy a conversation bbl

However if this is a ccw piece or a home defense gun I personally would feel much better about carrying a matched and tuned to 9mm complete factory gun rather than a Hodge podge franken glock

If this conversion allows you to shoot thousands of cheaper rounds downrange, and it proves to be reliable over those thousands of rounds, then why wouldn't you rely on it?

Actually, in this specific scenario, I'll let you in on a little secret. In my experience, my G27 converted to 9mm is more reliable than in stock configuration.

IF you actually put thousands of rounds downrange that's fine.

But lets be realistic here. Who actually does that? (A few do but are firmly in the minority)

THIS is a conversion I'm quite interested in. They do great work I hear, and the price is reasonable for what you get. We'll see.

The Lone Wolf stuff? I wrote about that on here very recently, not rehashing it. I'm not a fan of them for a few reasons, and quality and the reliability due to quality is part of it.

Look to Glockmeister. They are having a sale right now I think. They sell slides and frames, assembled and stripped...

If you just want a plinker to use 9mm in your .40 and reliability and accuracy aren't too important, go for it. You may get lucky and get a good one. Whatever you do, don't use it for defense, trust your factory stuff for that.
