And I am sure your ignoring or forgot that a jury can put aside ALL the laws and decide to vacate what the court wants them to do.

Forgot the exact wording ,but it is there AND the judges and courts try to not let jurys hear such TRUTHS.

btw, while you are picking your best shot = that TERRORIST is setting off his belt or picking off innocents.

Praying I never find out how hard that shot will be ------------- AND how the hell I will live with myself.

I will not allow many to die when there is an option.

I am sure you will,then we can both go our ways and pray NEITHER OF US finds out 'the' answer.
 
At least for the time being the scenario of shooting through a child to take down a suicide bomber is something that only our soldiers deployed overseas have to really consider. While anything is possible, so far, despite all of the predictions since 9-11, that type of terrorism hasn't come to the USA. Let's pray that we never have to have that discussion here.

This is definitely drifting into a discussion of what's moral rather then what's legal and THR is not the place to have that conversation. I will leave this thread open if it stays on topic as the OP intended. Any more drift into if it's right to kill a child to stop a suicide bomber and it's done.

I think you are assuming that the jury will have been allowed to hear and see evidence that relates to the defendant's idea of justification.

Exactly NOT the time to know how and what to do,when all you have left is prayer.

I do believe that I am on target here [ so to speak ] as an ounce of prevention is worth a childs life.

And actually killing a child was not my point,taking that shot was.

Since I don't want to bother seeing the ban hammer,I will withdraw from what is a real topic [ in my not so humble opinion ] and not bother you again.

Hope its not your prayers that are all you have if this should happen here

I agree that this is a real topic. It is not however, a topic that should be discussed here. We don't discuss those things here because there can be no right answer. Everyone has different views on a subject like that. And the problem with the differing views is that they all are right for the person who has that view. Maybe not for you, or for me, but a discussion that comes down to if one should shoot through a child to take out a suicide bomber will have as many different answers as it has participants in the discussion. And all of those answers will the right answer for that person.

Those discussions get often get heated and often result in members being banned. So we don't don't have those philosophical discussions here. In the 28 years and 11 months I spent in the Infantry and 20 years in law enforcement, I've thought about that very issue many times. I've had a lot of discussions about it. But it's not a topic that we can discuss here and have it remain civil. Experience has proven that time and again.
