As I said yesterday and provided a link for you, YES A MN CCW holder can carry legally in SD. Here is the link form the SD web page that HAS been updated recently since their law was updated.

http://www.state.sd.us/sos/Firearms/index.htm

Scroll down to the part where it talks about reciprocity and recognition. In the other thread you posted yesterday someone explained the difference between reciprocity and recognition. Basically recogniton is a one-sided deal and reciprocity is a two-sided deal.

A SD CCW holder cannot carry in MN however (because the two states don't have reciprocity).

Eited to add: I can see where you want to be extra careful about this, but if you can't trust SD's own government pages who can you trust?

The important page on Packing.org for your question is not the MN page, but the SD page.

Reciprocity has been established with the following states:

Alabama
Alaska*
Colorado*
Florida (including non-resident permits)*
Georgia*
Indiana
Kentucky*
Michigan*
Mississippi
Montana
North Carolina*
North Dakota (including non-resident permits)
Oklahoma
Tennessee (including non-resident permits)*
Texas
Utah (including non-resident permits)*
Wyoming*

I don't see Minnesota on the list. I know at the time I got my MN permit I also applied for the Florida permit so I could carry in SD.

Guys If you read the part directly after the Reciprocity part on the SD web page I provided you will see RECOGNITION. There it states that SD recognizes a valid permit from any state. This means you can carry in SD on your MN permit.

Edited to add: If you are not satisfied with my answer, call to the SD sec of state's office at the following number which i have taken from the SD packing.org page:

Licensing Authority:
Secretary of State
Concealed Weapons Administrator
*, South Dakota *
Phone: (605) 773-3537
Fax: Unk
Email: [email protected]

Thanks

Thanks for all ur answers guys. It was sort of complicated, so I wanted definite correct answers. Better to be safe then sorry.

Yes; SD recently began to recognize the MN carry permit.

Most "shall issue" states recognize the Florida one, and at least some Minnesota carry permit instructors certificates are recognized by Florida. (I'm one, but I'm hardly the only one.) All in all, I think it makes sense for most Minnesotans to get the MN permit, and their NH and FL ones, as well.

(While my classes also qualify people for their VA, ME and CT permits, very few of my students bother with those.) More on that at http://ellegon.com/features/data/thirtyone, if you're interested.
