I would like to go to the gunshow this weekend, but I don't have any idea where the I-75 Expo Center is.
I'll be heading north on I-75, from Chattanooga.
The I-75 Expo Center, is ironically not located on or even moderately near I-75. It's at the intersection of Merchants Road and Clinton Highway. Go figure.
Anyway, when you come to the Nashville/Chattanooga or Asheville/Knoxville split, take I-40/I-75 to Knoxville. Stay on that road until you get to the I-640 bypass. Take the bypass (it bears to the right a couple of miles after the Papermill exit). Stay on that until you get to the I-75 Lexington exit. Get back on I-75 and heard north until you hit the Merchants Road exit. That should only be about a mile or so. Take that exit and bear left onto Merchants Road, heading west. Keep on Merchants and you will see a major intersection with Clinton Highway. Across the road on the right is the Expo Center. It's in the Kroger's shopping center. Go through the intersection, into the shopping center, and head towards the large orangeish building.
I'll be there, probably Saturday noonish. Can't remember if GA Arms sets up at the Smoky Mountain Collector's Association shows or not. If not, there's always the Holloway show next weekend...
In general - Holloway is good for "black guns" and SMCS is good for "brown guns". That being said there will be plenty of good older military rifles at SMCS, more interesting modern military rifles, tons of great shotguns and hunting rifles, various handguns, ammunition dealers, and lots of "brown baggers".
If the 640 shortcut sounds a little complicated just take 75 through Kville to Merchants and follow the instructions given already.
Thank Christ! The stupid Expo Ctr's website and phone line were out today so I couldn't contact the place directly. Thanks for the directions! See ya there Sunday!
Hey,
Thanks for the directions.
I started seeing shows advertised on billboards last year, but I travel I-75 a couple of times a month, and I had never seen the "Expo Center".
Now, I understand.
(Clever, how it is not actually near I-75. Hmmmm.... )
Well, I didn't make it to this show, but at least I know how to get there now.
And, I already know how to get to the fairgrounds.
