Here it is:

Years ago, I remember seeing a picture in a magazine of some soldiers somewhere in the orient carrying these bizarre looking rifles with the magazine sticking out the top, and wondering what the hell they were. That's the only other time I've ever seen any of these.

So can anyone tell me what they are? And how the hell do they aim these things with the mag sticking right out of the top and obstructing the line of sight? Inquiring minds want to know.

Czech ZB vz. 26, close relative of the British Bren. Sights are offset to the left.

I think this has come through before.
I can't name the rifle, but I can say that I believe the soldiers are Chinese, by the crests on the headwear, and that the rifles are aimed by offsetting the sights to the left, like the old Bren machine guns.

It's a North Korean Type 73 light machine gun. Google finds more pics & info. Feeds from belt or magazine, and the sights are of course offset. With a mag it looks a bit like Bren, but is more related to Soviet PK and Czech Vz52.
