Seems simple enough but also silly enough. I want a swage. I have been reaming pockets and would rather swage them. Reaming isn’t as easy as it sounds, and it removes material. Swaging is a better plan and while looking at purpose built units it struck me that perhaps the lee priming tool that drops into the ram could Be slightly modified to do the job. Has anybody done that? Has anybody tried? Do I need to give it the old college try and report back? Seems it would only be a new HARDENED screw in the arm and some careful lathe/file work to contour it to remove the crimp. If it does it for 223 it should do fine for 9mm as well...

I would cut my losses and get the CH4D primer pocket swager kit. it comes with hardened rods for both large and small primers and the body is made of steel as well. I got the combo with the ram prime included. Works on the top of press like a ram prime and works really fast IMHO. Used it a couple times and gave away my RCBS swaging set and old Lee ram prime to a starting reloader. There are a couple you tube videos showing it being used.

The biggest problem would be pulling the die back out of the pocket, as the priming arm just falls back down from gravity. I can tell you that the lee primer thing will swage a primer pocket, I've done it. Getting it back out I dropped it and broke it.

Pretty sure it could be done, but wouldn't be quick and easy to get there.

Interesting idea. Seems like too much work to me. I use the RCBS swage die kit, and pulling the shell out of the swaging base does take a bit of force. If you get it to work I'd like to see your results, WestKentucky.

I would echo the CH4D set.
Once it is set up and and you have everything in easy reach to be efficient, it will leave a dillon super swage behind. Being on the press is a disadvantage to set up every time you want to process brass, but worth it to me as I am only playing with .223 and those sessions are pretty far apart.

Is a "doohicky" the ram prime? If so, I don't think it would wok unless some sort of set screw set up to hold th "pin" in the ram prime base (the part hat slides in the ram like a shell holder) Pushing it in wouldn't be a problem but like MCFLYFYTER mentioned pulling it out of the pocket and the pin would have t be secured in the base...
