I have enough. Even shed some recently. Since I'm not a collector, decided to only keep what I would shoot at the range on a regular basis which includes those designated as self defense.
In my case, I reached that point a long, long time ago. However, knowing that my heirs didn't want all of my guns never stopped me from buying more guns back then (the ones I wanted) and it's not going to stop me now.You reach a point in your life when you know your heirs don't want all your guns. I'm not talking about family heirlooms or collectibles.
I'm sort of that way. I've just about reached the point that the only time I'll buy another gun is when I've sold one.The only time I’m selling a gun is because I’m looking to buy another one
I typically just sell what i dont use constantly and buy something i think i will enjoy shooting more. Life is too short to just keep them all and not use them.I'm sort of that way. I've just about reached the point that the only time I'll buy another gun is when I've sold one.
Makes sense to meRemember that who ever dies with the most toys wins. Not sure what you win, but I don’t make the rules.
I'm kind of the opposite, the gun has to be REAL BAD before I'll dispose of it. I had a Springfield P9C Subcompact in 40 S&W that was continually breaking parts. I traded it off at Gander Mountain for a 38 Super Colt 1911.I'm sort of that way. I've just about reached the point that the only time I'll buy another gun is when I've sold one.
Or , as someone said “ most gun owners would benefit more from $10 a month Planet Fitness membership, than from getting another gun”. Unfortunately, that applies to me as wellMost gun owners would do well to sell a gun or two and buy some good training.
Let’s be honest : we all sometimes like to do chest puffing about “ rights” , but having multiple guns is typically not a necessity, it is a hobby that we enjoy. Not necessarily cheapest one . And that is Ok . There are much “worse” things people do with their money. My guns will outlive me and will go to my children.I do. I wish I had spent a lot less time and money buying guns and more shooting them/competing with them, etc.
Yep, and as I've said before, that "lack of space" problem is at least doubled when you have a wife that likes guns, shooting and hunting as much as you do. My wife and I are out of room in our safes for more guns, and out of room in our house for more safes. AND, at our respective ages, we're not about to buy and move into a larger house just so that we can buy more guns - which we will be trying to figure out who to "pass" or sell them to in the not-too-distant future.I am more constrained by space than money which helps, you can't easily safe up space like you can cash.
300 , I hope to get to your level one day sir . I need to get busy .I’ve had “too many” twice in my life, so far. I had over 300 in inventory at one point, liquidated, rebuilt over a decade to over a hundred again, liquidated again. Honestly, I ALMOST or SORT OF feel like I have “too many” once again, but largely rather because I have a lot of heirloom rifles, and rifles I keep out of nostalgia, but of which I just don’t and won’t make use - Rifles I like, and like owning, but I just don’t shoot any more, so it’s tough to justify holding on. I have a few JM stamped Marlin 1894’s, as an example, and really only make use of one of them. I have two blued and walnut .30-06’s, one a Ruger M77 MkII, my first deer rifle I bought for myself, and one a Rem 700 BDL, which was my father-in-law’s rifle; I can’t really bring myself to sell either, and neither are worth enough to warrant their sale, but I also don’t make appropriate use of either any longer, and can’t really justify why they should rot in the back of my safe, then rot in my son’s safe in the future when I’m gone… I have a Bushmaster Varmint Special Stainless I just can’t bring myself to sell, but also can’t bring myself to shoot any more either….
So I’m kind of stuck again thinking - eh, I don’t need all of these, don’t even want all of these… but I can’t quite drop the axe on them…
