In my quest for a .22 LR cylinder for my Ruger single six that came with only a .22mag cylinder I bid on and won the following cylinder. I want to properly ID it so I can list it for sale.

It looked right on the auction and is in as good shape as advertised so I have nothing against the seller, but it isn't right for the Single six. The cylinder is a fraction of an inch too long and the base pin hole is a fraction of an inch too small. Here are pics:

Edited to add: I think I will just break down and send the gun in to Ruger to have them fit the cylinder and do the conversion. I can't see any markings on the cylinder as to mfr.

that raised ring around the rear of the cylinder...that's an H&R trait. They did make some intercangable cylinder SA style guns, and I suspect this goes to one of them (H&R liked to give differnt model numbers to differnt finishes...but the basic gun would be the 649 or the 686).

could be th edifference between an old model cylinder and a new model. I had a similar problem years ago with a Single-Six that only came with a magnum cylinder. I sent it to Ruger, new cylinder & reblue came out to a grand total of $85.00, well worth it in my book.

Don't worry about them converting th elockwork, they send all the old parts back and it takes about 15 minutes to put it back the way it should be.

Their prices have gone up. For a new cylinder and reblue it will be $105 right now. Still worth it considering that the cylinders alone have gone on ebay for as much as $90 recently.

I also just noticed that Ruger just raised the suggested retail price of the blued single six from $411 to $425 on their website.
