See if you can identify any/all original Colts versus any repros.

we’ll start with the big picture and if it’s too easy or too impossible I’ll post some closer pics. Have fun!

The bottom and the 1862 look very original. Though the 1849 has a larger grip on it.

I think the top three and the 49 are original but the 51 has new grips on it and the 49 has an army grip.

I would say those shooting irons with darkened grips. Wood darkens with age and oils from hands. Hard to replicate.

I would not have expected the fluted cylinder gun to be a reproduction, it just seems to be right. Not sure why, and I’m far from a cap and ball expert.

Its the notches!
Trapezoidal bolt stop notches and great big leads into them on repros vs rectangular notches with tiny (if any) leads on 1st gens.
And, of course, a brass frame.
I have seen fakes with the notches squared up but you can't hide the leads.

I haven’t yet. The army, one navy, police, and at least one pocket are in shooting shape though. One navy needs a new hammer or at least some competent work rewelding and cutting the notches. I hope to eventually get a replica of each to shoot.
