The total burglary rate including attempts is 3.6% in 1988. 4.2% in 1991. 4.0% in 1995. 2.9% in 1999. 3.5% in 2003/04. 1.3%* in 2010. The Canadian Victimization Survey has a burglary rate of 3.1% in 2014.

The United States burglary rate including attempts according to the International Victimization Survey was 5.6% in 1988. 3.9% in 1995. 3.3% in 1999. 5.1% or 5.2% in 2003/04.

The United States Criminal Victimization Survey for Burglary rate including attempts is 6.2% in 1988. 5.3% in 1991. 4.9% in 1995. 3.4% in 1999. 2.9% in 2003. 2.3% in 2010. 2.3% in 2014.

*1.3% is the only rate I could find. Burglary with entry rate. I could not find the rate of Burglary with attempts for 2010.

I am puzzled by your conclusion. Your numbers seem to show that burglary including attempts are lower in Canada than in the US for many of those years. I am guessing that fewer Canadian households have a gun, so the presence of a gun in the house does not prove what you say.

I think it was lower for Canada for a lot of those years. Thanks for pointing that out.

My house has had zero attempted burglaries. I attribute it to a few things. 1. Good neighborhood watch. 2. I don't flaunt wealth (or the lack there of). 3. I live in a rural area free of mass populations. I am only a case of one though.

The OP already has a Canada post going, I see no reason for another. Add new info to that one.

Normally I wouldn't post on an already closed thread but I'm going to this time. OP, THR is a firearms forum. We are here to promote responsible firearms ownership, the Second Amendment, and a general love for all things firearms. This post, and the others like them, do not meet the purpose or mission of THR. How is this at all related to forearms? The answer is, it is not. Unless it can somehow be tied into a larger firearms issue then burglary statistics are simply off topic.
