I have had both and sold both. Liked them very much and foolishly sold them. I'm about to get one again but it's hard to choose. One has a DA/SA striker trigger and the other has a "single action" striker trigger. Full-size guns are my favorite and this solves that part. Reliability is great on these two , and its just hard to break down the pros and cons of each. I put a few hundred rounds through my prior Caniks but not enough to know any quirks of one or the other. Any information from you long time Canik owners is appreciated.

Although out of scope for your poll, I'd recommend a model based on the SFX or Mete model. The truth is that what whatever you pick is that they are all 100% reliable and fun to shoot. They blow every other brand out of the water for function and value. You can't go wrong. Between my pro instructor, myself and casual shooter friends, we're talking 300k+ rounds through various models now, they truly rock. No more discovery here. I only buy Caniks now. I'm not a fan boy, just a smart buyer.

I've got 2 Caniks, a TP9sfx and a TP9 SA.
Both are good guns, as good or better than most.

I will echo what everyone else has said. You won't go wrong with either model. It comes down to which you prefer the best as far as DA/SA or SA only. I will also recommend looking at the SFX and Mete models too. Both have a better triggers.

I have both the tp9sf and the da. Both are range guns and not home defense. For strictly range shooting I would choose the tp9sf. It has only one trigger pull to deal with unlike the da. I have also upgraded the tp9sf with a Freedomsmith trigger which makes the trigger pull outstanding. Both are good guns though.

I'm with cornhusker I would (and did) go with the tp9fxs. That way if you decide to add a red dot you can.

So far I think I'm leaning towards the TP9DA. It's the size of a Glock 45 and fits my hand great. Plus the DA/SA ability is nice. But please keep the experiences and information coming. It's good information.

I have both. If I were carrying concealed or using the DA for home defense I would prefer it because if the decocker.

As range guns I don’t see a difference in utility.

Thanks to all you guys/gals. I got a TP9DA today for $359 in the Black color. The Bronze looked a little cheesy so I'm glad I found it in Black. I'll attach a picture below. I swear the trigger reset on these pistols is awesome ! If you see smudges on the guns it's chicken marinade . I took the picture while cooking chicken .

I have a tp9sf in the white strm trooper addition. It holds true to storm troopers as its the most in accurate pistol I own. I've shot it from a rest at 10 yards and can't possibly get less than 5" groups. I don't know if it's a junk barrel or what, but I can shoot 3" groups without a rest with all my other pistols. I think I just got a lemon, I'd get rid of it, but it is somewhat of a collector.

I hate to hear that. mine have did pretty well. have you emailed or talked with Century Arms about this ? Also , did your gun come from the factory with the Stormtrooper paint ? Could you post a picture please ? It would be neat to see . I've seen a Mete in the Stormtrooper "worn white" paint but not an SF .

Actually it's a tp9sfx I believe, which is even more disappointing since it has a 5.25" barrel. IMG_1025_2.JPG
