i would really not compare the CZ with the Canik guns
they are no more clones of the cz than are the Tanfoglio guns
yes design based
but not clones

This is sorta relevant. I don't have either the L-120 nor the P-120 but I do have the TriStar (Canik55) C100 in 380 Auto similar to the CZ Compact 9mm. It's one terrific shooter, super accurate and reliable. You may want to ask your question on the CZ Forum which has a section devoted to CZ clones.

I had for a short while a C100, while the pistol operated just fine and looked very much like a 75 it did have several short comings ...this however may have just been the example I had .
First let me say I understand that it was new, but I really felt the slide was very hard/stiff to pull back. I've owned a lot of 9mm pistols and this one had the most spring pull/weight Ive ever felt, making it near impossible for my wife to rack.
Second the trigger is set forward making it difficult to get a good grip with out first re-adjusting I have average size hands and this was a compact pistol and I did have a few fte using steel ammo.
Third I will have to say that I felt that the accuracy was nothing stellar while combat accurate not great for a pistol with CZ heritage .
Last I will have to say is resale they are inexpensive but that will be even more evident when and if you decide to sell.
WTS they do however represent a good value great CZ looks and a very functional firearm
And my complaints may have just been with the example I had.

I have a Tristar P-120. Great gun! Its a clone of the cz75 sp01.

I upgraded it with: CZ wood grips, a spring kit from and a set of sights from Cajun gun works.

Very accurate! Love shooting plates at the range with it!

All Canik products meet ISO-9000 quality standards. That is significant. Virtually no other firearms manufacturors can calim that.

Iso 9000

I do Quality Assurance for a living. All ISO 9000 means is that a company has quality assurance processes that meet the standard and they have paid to have them evaluated and certified. You can be ISO 9000 all day long and still turn out junk. I am not saying that is the case here but It means about as much as the "Mil-spec" BS thrown about by AR builders.

I remember when the company I used to work for was 9000 certified. Funny I don't really remember all that much changing in the manufacturing process or in the QA department. (I was in QA FT at the time)

For me it's in the name Canik....kind of reminds me of HS Produkt. Who would buy something like that with such a strange name.

If only someone would rebadge them under and American name.

That being said, ever review I've watched of the Canik has been positive.

I have a TriStar L-120. It is a very good quality clone of the CZ75 with good fit and finish. It uses the CZ magazines and accessories. With its alloy frame it is lighter than the Chec CZ75 but all the dimensions and handling characteristics are the same. Its also very accurate with good out of the box trigger both single and DA. I bought the gun for less than $300 and have been very happy with it.

Does anyone have a moment to comment on preference for an alloy vs steel frame?

In terms of resale if I hate it, which would probably be more desirable?

Thanks!
