Cannon cockers I need help. I am in the process of finishing a one pounder (golf ball) gun. Essentially a grasshopper gun.

I need information on how to make pre-made charges and what charge would be appropriate for gulf balls and lead balls .

Thanks

I had one that fired plastic 35mm film cans filled with concrete. I used a 12 gauge shotgun shell of 1Fg powder wrapped in aluminum foil.. When it was rammed down in the barrel, I would poke a hole in it and stick some fuse down into the powder charge.
I also made some 1/2 pound lead wad cutters that would go clear through an old Chevy pickup body at 50 yards or bury themselves about 4 feet deep in a sand dune. A real hoot.

Didnt they used to make cloth charges of some sort? I know that was probably for the bigger ones.. But same applies I would think?

i made a mortar for billiard balls made from high strength no seam pipe, i use paper, those cup cake papers work to. i use oiled rags for the patch to. i would like to make one for golf balls, billiard balls are hard to find these days. just wish i could see how far the go lol.

Use foil for charges; less likely to hold an ember. Swab and worm between shots. Not knowing the construction of your barrel, I couldn't recommend charge weights.
Cast steel barrel with a high pressure steel pipe as the bore. Steel plug is welded in.
