I have a G40 and took the barrel out and put a new KKM barrel in. When I put the slide back on I forgot to put the spring back in. Now, when I go to pull the slide off it won't come off. When you pull slightly on the back of the Glock, it slides back about two inches as there is no tension with no spring.

I called Glock and they said to try doing it upside down. So far, I am not having any success removing the slide.

Does anyone have a suggestion how to get this off?

That worked perfectly. Thanks guys, I appreciate it!! I learned something new today and you helped me turn lemons into lemonade.

I've seen Glock slides get stuck like this (from the guide rod being installed improperly, hooked on the wrong spot IIRC). Just pulling the trigger can release it.

That's so wrong. You don't need to "pry off the cover plate" with a screwdriver.

You just move the slide back and take off the cover plate like you normally do. By first depressing the striker sleeve so the cover plate easily slides off without prying, the way it was designed to be removed.
