So I have a small order coming from Midway via UPS but the tracking information seems somewhat confusing.

Granted, I'm old and so likely not as bright or quick witted as I once thought I was but still this has been more difficult for me than reading the Canterbury Tales in Middle English.

Is UPS actually using teleportation and does Scotty really have the system under control?

Can hider bæ callede ain progressfōre-dēde?

Seems like in KC, they think the quickest way from KC to TX is via CA, but when it gets to CA, they disagree.

I hope it gets sorted for you soon!

I sold a reloading press to a member here from SE Michigan to ND. Took 20 some days and traveled all over the Midwest and Appalachia before finally arriving.

Yeeesh! You may have single handedly uncovered Bidens “supply chain issues” excuses for his 10% inflation numbers with this! :what:

But seriously, in this case it looks like a computer snafu, maybe a misread bar code or similar blip confused their system and made it look like the box was teleporting from time zone to time zone.

Hopefully it gets to you soon.

Stay safe.

Yep, I've worked the bulk of my career in IT supporting various distribution operations and done plenty of shipping via UPS. This is most likely a situation where UPS's tracking software has a bug and is displaying the tracking entries for two different packages.

Thanks for dredging up all those long suppressed memories I had of Tenth Grade English class.

Just when I was starting to make some progress with my therapy too!

Here you go:
Whan that Aprille with his shoures soote,
The droghte of March hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licóur
Of which vertú engendred is the flour;
Whan Zephirus eek with his swete breeth
Inspired hath in every holt and heeth
The tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne
Hath in the Ram his halfe cours y-ronne,
And smale foweles maken melodye,
That slepen al the nyght with open ye,
So priketh hem Natúre in hir corages,...

Like as not, the repeat entries are the local inventory systems "cleaning up" records, but no one told the person who set up the reporting software to bother identifying what the entries actually "are."

So, That could be :
Tracing number assigned.
Flight shipment inventory number created.
Flight receiving inventory number created.
Inbound scanner triggered.
Truck to airport GPS activated
Scanner read off delivery truck.
Scanner read into plane.
Plane GPS movement activation.
Receiving air terminal entry created
Flight offload scanner activated
And so on . . .

Like as not, there are long binary number sequences for all this. But, the tracking program code monkey was only paid to used a limited number of text assignments per actions. So, the text language repeats nonsensically. Why? Nobody paid to have the tracking "read" in actual English.

This is pretty common in computerized systems. When you put your card in the Point-of-sale machine, and it flashes "thank you" at the end, that "thank you" costs the POS designer about $250 to add to the process.

I would contact Midway and alert them to the problem. Keep a record of your contact so that when the shipment gets lost you will have some additional leverage. I had a package from another company (not Midway) delivered to someone else. Once the company got the “delivered” notice they were no longer interested in talking to me.
