Carbine length on Midlength

Alright, from what I have read you can put a Midlength hand guard on a carbine length system you just have to get a low profile gas block and bladi bla


I'm not much for building AR's yet. I found a hand guard that I really like. But it only comes in Carbine length. I have a midlength system.
Is there anyway to make this work properly?
Will it leave my gas tube exposed?
Is it even practical?

What is the handgaurd that you like, and how long is it? The different handguard manufacturers seem to have some variation in a lot of the free float handguards when it comes to length. Here is a pic that shows the lengths of the different gas systems
