Hello all!

This post is pretty much only relevant to Kentuckians or people who frequent Keeneland. I have lived in Lexington (where Keeneland is located ) my whole life, and believe it or not, have never been. A couple of friends have invited me to go with them and I was wondering what the rules for carrying are.

My gut would say that it's probably not allowed, and that there is some potential for getting searched. Overall, I'll probably just leave it behind to avoid any hastles. I know that they sell alcohol, but as long as I avoid the bar that really shouldn't be a problem.

Thoughts, experiences, snide remarks?

I don't see why not. Keenland is a pretty open place people walking all over I wouldn't see any problem. If I go to this meet I'll have something in my pocket. :)

I was there 8-03-03 I saw several signs that said no guns. Nice place. I went to the Woodford reserve distillary the same day also very nice. They did not want any sparks with good reason. Patrick

I would have to put this one in the same slot as going into a posted store. If you're concealed, how do they know?
And if they do find out, you're asked to leave. No big thing.
Having never been to the races, I don't know, but doubt that anyone is searched unless doing something to warrant it.
I have though been to the barn areas to deliver horses, and to the sale ring while packing and saw no reason not to. Pretty laid back atmosphere from those sites.

I urge everyone to make it to the spring meet at Keeneland. At this time of year, central Kentucky is one of the most beautiful places in the world. You don't have to place a single bet to have a great time. When I go to Keeneland or the Red Mile (trotter track), I carry.

marley,

Glad to hear you liked Woodford's Distillery, it's a pretty place isn't it? I wish we'd lighten up about licensed CCW holder's, but I don't see it happening, unfortunately.
