Carry blues...

What sort of belt are you using? And, when was the last time it was replaced? I've been using the same gun belt for nearly 4 years, and it's definitely lost its rigidity over time.

I hate to be the one to say it because I carry and love my g27/G23.

One of the new single stacks will go a long way towards IWB comfort.

The G series doublestacks are quite chunky.

Have you tried one of the N82 holsters?

They've got a soft suede padded sweat shield.

I can also vouch for the N82 holster. The padded shield is the size of the entire gun, including the grip. So the grip no longer digs into my side when sitting in a car.

Im sorry but I just have to say a Kimber 1911 in 45 ACP has got to be the ultimate pocket sledge hammer. I don't think I could do it but I have to say the idea is awesome.

It's Aker 1.5" and it's practically brand new.

Evil-Twin has the right idea. I've even been considering a bed holster attached to the side of my half of the bed. I could just permanently affix a regular belt holster straight up but I haven't done it yet, and opt for unholstered night stand carry whilst sleeping.

X 2 on what Evil-Twin posted...I do the same and have for years...got completely fed up with that holster hassle...I have never looked back.

I've been through the same thing and have tried a number of holsters. The one that works best for me so far is Uncle Mike's IWB holster. They're light, so they add little additional weight. They're also inexpensive, so you're not out much money if it doesn't work. I paid $15 for mine. You may also want to try a Cook's IWB trigger guard. This also adds almost no weight. The downside to the trigger guard is that the gun is pressed directly against you as there's no padding, so it may be a little abrasive.

When my back does act up, I'll carry my LC9S Pro. It's thin, light and with an extended magazine holds 9+1.

I carry IWB all day, every day. I find that I have to sometimes move the gun a little forward or back during the day depending on what I am doing. For instance, if I am going to take a nap on the couch I will move it a little forward. Also, it is easier to carry in a holster with forward cant (FBI cant).

A gun that is carried too far back will poke you in the kidney area while seated in a chair with a back and that will never be comfortable. My usual carry position is close to 3 o'clock. My cover garment is an untucked shirt and when belted into the car I make sure that the shirt is over the seatbelt so that the gun can be accessed.

Of course I could try a slimmer gun, but I don't see it making a whole lot of difference unless I go with some tiny shooter like Ruger LCP - but then I probably won't be able to hit the wide side of a barn with it.

I uncomfortably carried an SP101 for a few months. It was a pain in the back while driving. Eventually, I bought an LCP, and I don't regret that for a minute. It drops in a pocket or rides IWB at 4:30 with no hassle.

It takes a little practice to shoot (and I always use the extended magazine baseplates), but I don't leave it at home nearly as often.

Just a thought.
