Carry "odd balls"

A couple of times a year in the heat of the summer I will carry a Beretta 950 in .25ACP. I only do it when I am wearing shorts and have to tuck in a shirt for work. Though last summer I think I only carried it once. Normally I carry a S&W air weight in .38 and I found a new pair of shorts at Dicks that have a little more room(I am a creature of habit when it comes to clothes)

I will say I am pretty fast with that little gun. It is the only 'mouse gun' that I can shoot quickly and accurately. I would take it 10 times out of 10 over an LCR.

Sure.... Tokarev in 9mm, Makarov, Cobra patriot in 380, 9mm, or 45, Hi-point 9mm (trail gun), bryco 32, Raven p25, HK VP70, Sundance a25, Early charter undercover, Sterling 25, Ruger p91, Sigmas in 380 up to 40s&w, FIE Super Titan in 32acp.

most of the time its A makarov/Tokarev 9mm or P11 in the summer. If I am out at night or with my kids at a movie theatre its a blacked out Sigma with a laser on it. I typically also carry a little 25 raven type as an emergency gun. Beretta 92 get a lot of carry for more traditional pistol because I grew up on it (along with the mak/Tok pistols). Sometimes I go 1911 milspec. Thinking about trying an FMK with the full DAO trigger once I pick one up and get it dialed in.

My "oddball" gun was an Astra Model 600 in a U.S. M7 shoulder holster! The Astra was all that I had at the time. Use to wear it under an M65 field jacket during the colder weather months while out hiking ]

Those old astra space guns are cool pistols. I probabley would have carried it as well. I still use a 7.62x25 Tok as a hiking gun quite a bit (penetration for dog skulls ) when with the kids.

I'm another one that use to carry the FEG PA63. I haven't really carried it since getting a Kel-Tec P3AT and PF9 and then moving to a Sig P938 for a small EDC gun. I find myself swapping between the Sig P938, Glock G43 or G26 unless I want to carry something bigger.

I find the idea of a carry rotation somewhat odd. Winter/summer, I could see adapting, but some folks seem to like to spin the wheel. My rotation is latched at XD-M 10mm. Admittedly, summers at 5500 feet are pretty workable.

Same. Looking to have two carry pistols; my SA XD-M 10mm Elite 3.8" for normal carry, and my P365 for deeper carry.

I would consider carrying a compact 10mm as squarely in the camp of "odd balls". Current carry is the P365 or a G23, or a G29 for the woods. As soon as the XD-M gets back from SA, I will do further evaluation to see if I can make it my primary carry pistol.

That would definitely qualify. What's the trigger like on that thing? I've looked at derringers but can't bring myself to "pull the trigger" on one
Actually, the trigger is not bad on this gun. I don't know if they all are as good. The gun is nice and flat, and slides in a pocket well. With 15 grains of 3f and a 65 grain patched round ball, I can keep both shots in a 5" circle at 15 yards and the gun has no sights, just sighting down the barrel flat.

I carried my Star Firestar M40 quite a bit along with my FEG PA63 when I first got my CCW permit. The Firestar's are good pistols.
I believe they were always underrated. I have a number of Star pistols and they are all dependable accurate shooters. I like Stars and Astras. I carried an A60 (Astra) and the M40 for about 15 years and they never let me down. A60 is a great pistol!

The way to tell is to look inside your jockstrap. If you see cubes, you have odd balls.

Touché - that was actually not the pun I intended.
At least mine was gun-related... :)

I am pretty sure the "5 ain't enough" crowd got it.
But I like your joke, too!

No carry rotation for me unless specific circumstances make another firearm better suited. I want my muscles to do what needs to be done without my brain having to do anymore than decide whether or not the gun is needed.

Nope, if I need a gun for protection, I NEED a gun I am most familiar and proficient with. I carry my Colt Delta Elite in 10mm summer, winter, spring and fall. At home, in the woods, in town, to a friends house, to the enemy's ghetto, Colt 10 mm.

Odd balls and curiosities are for the target range and wild west shows, not serious work.

Yes... good double stack 380. I liked the Bersa 85 as well. I always liked the midsize hi-cap 380s of the 80s/90s

I rarely carry anything odd unless I need it. I usually pocket carry when off duty. My weapon of choice is now a SIG 365. I choose it as a power step up from the previous carry gun, a GLOCK 42 in .380ACP. The oddball is when I am wearing slacks that will not accommodate the 365 or GLOCK 42, so I wear either a BERETTA Tomcat or if needed, a NORTH AMERICAN ARMS Guardian, both are .32ACP.
I like and shoot the BERETTA on occasion to keep my skill with it, but the Guardian is one of the most unpleasant guns I own, that I shoot. I last shot it for only 25 rounds as I found a full 50 rounds to be really unpleasant.
