I'll be traveling by motorcycle through Oregon, Idaho and Nevada in a couple of weeks. I have a Washington CPL which means I'm okay in Idaho but not in Oregon or Nevada. Can I carry legally if I unload the gun and lock it in my saddlebag with the ammo in the other saddlebag? I will be doing some sightseeing in Oregon and Nevada, and staying in hotels, so I'm not just passing through.

Thanks

Yes, that is exactly what you do and what we have done travelling on bikes. When in a hotel, you can have it inside as it is your temporary residence. If you do this annually, consider an out of state license that has reciprocity in NV and OR (like maybe UT, CO, FL etc. - not sure which one works). Checkout this place, they can help you figure it out for the future:

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if the locked saddlebag was good enough or if I needed it in a locked gun case. Reading Oregon code, it looks like it just can't be "readily accessible". Haven't found Nevada code yet.

Nevada you can open carry without a license. The ammo does not have to be separated from the gun, BTW, for transportation, just the gun unloaded.
