Case gauge?

How important is it to have/use case gauges? If I do a full re-size why would you need to check it? Just curious...
A case gage has the ability to measure a fired case and a case that has been sized to minimum/full length sized.

A reloader assumes the case is sized and returned to minimum length/full length sized. If the die is correctly adjusted and the die does not make it to the shell holder when sizing the case has not been full length sized. If I check case head protrusion from the die after sizing I expect the protrusion of the case from the die to be .125".

And then there is 'cam over' with a cam over press; If the die is adjusted and the operator of the press uses cam over on a non cam over press all rules are out the window. When I use my Rock Chucker I am forgiven because it is impossible to bump when sizing, my rock chuckers are not cam over presses, my Rock Chuckers are 'leaver lock presses'.

I am forgiven because of the forgiveness built into the press.
