Buying a case trimmer is next on my list. I'd really like a high zoot powered machine like a Giraud or Gracey, but I'd have to brown bag my lunch for a long time to front one of those.

I've been looking at the Redding trimmer, the hand crank one with the micrometer adjustment. Any recommendations?

I need the trimmer for all of these...which is why I want a powered trimmer, even though I can't afford one right now.

l.e. wilson case trimmer. for all that brass, i'd def recommend a power adapter of a system with a built in power source. ur hand would get tired from all that cranking

the lee zip trim can do a case every 12 seconds start to finish including deburing

other than that. id say go to home depot and go hire you some day workers.

I would sell a bucket of the brass on ebay and buy a Gracey or Giraud with the proceeds. Anything that's cranked by hand or handheld with that much brass is probably going to put you at risk for carpal tunnel- its pretty hard to shoot when you can't bend your fingers.;)

I recommend buying a Trim Pro Manual Case Trimmer Kit with a three way cutter and using a cordless drill. If you use RCBS X-Dies you will only have to trim your brass once and then what will you do with that expensive trimmer? They nice and I would like to have one too but they are way too expensive for as little as I would use it and I load thousands of rounds a year but I use X-Dies to resize so I only have to trimmer once.

I'm not a big Dillon fan, but I do have one of the motor driven Dillon case trimmers and it's about the fastest I've ever used. It doesn't chamfer, but it takes the excess off as fast as you can run the cases up into the die and cutter. It also sizes the case at the same time.

Hope this helps.

Ditto on the dillon power trimmer, sizes and trims as fast as I pull the handle on the dillon 650. Just fill up the case feeder and away you go The carbide insert cuts so clean and on a slight inward slant that chamfering and deburring are hardly needed, at least I haven't seen a need for it ( unless your going to load benchrest ammo ). The power trimer has a vacuum connection on it to keep brass cuttings off the press. I use it enough to have made a central vacuum set up with a shop vac in another room so I don't have to listen to the shop vac run. I use it on 308, 223, and 30-06. It has standard threads so it should fit most presses, other trimming dies are avaliable for different calibers

I watched the "U Tube" demo of the Zip-Trim. I'm not impressed. If you plan on trimming all that brass you show in the pic using the "mighty Zip", you'll be trimming for a loooong time! With that much brass, there is no comparing anything to the Giraud w/chamfer blade attached.... Unless you enjoy trimming! :)

Giraud. With the others, after you trim, you still have to chamfer inside and out. With the Giraud, one pass does it all. If that brass is sized, you should be able to knock it out in a weekend. If it's mixed mfg, sort it before sizing/trimming.

Quintin,

Bob Head with CRC here...

+1, +1, +1! on getting the Giraud. Yes, it's expensive (buy once, cry once). If you are shooting as much as you should be, it's the only way to go.

I have the Gracey. It is great for one caliber but if you do several check the Giraud out it has interchangable heads that should be faster to set up. The Gracey trims from the shoulder datum line to the mouth of the case. The less expensive trimmers seem to trim case bottom to mouth if that is important. :)

Giraud

Once you get a Giraud, and I have had mine for 5 yrs, you will question why you waited for so long! I can do 1K or so of brass a hour!

Okay, okay, you've twisted my arm. I gotta scrounge up some money for a Giraud somehow.

I'd consider that Dillon size/trim thing, but I'm sizing with a Redding Type S Bushing die that I really like.
