Hi All
I was looking at 9mm cast bullets the other day. I saw 115grn cast lead round nose bullets. None of my manuals list a load for this. That got me to thinking and there seams to be a few that are like that. So where do you find load info on these odd weight cast bullets?

115grn 9mm
170grn 40/10mm
185grn 45acp

There seams to be a whole market of them. How do you determain where to start on somting like this?

Thanks

If ya use data for a slightly heavier boolit you`ll be ok within reason though !!

I`m lookin at my castbullet manual now , what powder ya gona try ? too many to type !!

Start working up from the light end of a jacketed bullet or a lead bullet which is heavier.
Lead bullets will not have as much pressure as a jacketed bullet in most cases taking into account length of bearing surface.

From my dirt bin memory of working with cast bullets in several 9MM semi-autos and revolvers. The 124/125 grain cast lead round nose bullets were easier to load and make function more uniformly. I never delved very deeply into the why of that occurance I just liked how much better it was and used it to my advantage. The 124/125 seemed to take the steel plates down a little better and were more consistently accurate from all my hand guns. I don't do much with 9MM now so use the opinion if you like.

I can use Bullseye, Unique or Win 231. Mainly looking at the 9mm 115grn and 45Acp 185 swc.

Thanks

This is the listing for the 358345 which is a snubby lookin 115gr swc, the aol mite not help but lists it at .997 , I know that seatin depth is touchy subject on the 9mm

The manual says to use WW cases & primers for the 9mm

BE starts at 3.8gr. for 1035fps & 22,800cup -- 4.9gr. for 1200fps & 31,000cup

231/hp38 is not listed !

For 45acp

BE starts3.5gr. for 660fps & 6,00cup ---5.0gr.for 890fps &12,300cup

231 for acp

starts at 3.9gr. for662fps & 7,900cup----6.0gr. for958fps &17,500cup

Hopes this helps !
