This was the first attach of chest pain in over 2.5 years since my triple bypass. I do not fool around with a cavalier "this will pass". Just a minor setback for a time but this will not deter me. Also the Lee 356-102-R1 mold I was bidding on ended while I wasn't home and was I outbid so now to either watch for another or just buy a new one. I really want one of those molds as the samples I received shot very well in both my 380's.

For me it has little to do with economics and more to do with pure necessity.

My 2 .44 cal rifles have .431 bores and not too many folks are selling .432 lead bullets in any grain weight.

It's very rare to get a 2 cavity Lee mold on eBay for less than what they cost on Amazon.

I LIKE cast iron for the large space and heat retention. BUT! [ and keep this a secrete!] The Truly Really Good folks from the BP site tend to strongly believe that cast iron is for cook'n and it's a bit sacrilegious to melt lead in! That was years ago. My first mold was a tin muffin pan. Now I have electric pots, BTW, mad of cast iron and ladles also made of cast iron. Both were designed for use with molten lead. They came from an industrial electric company and they used the pot to tin the ends of cables. It's deep, insulated and awesome. Remember I'm making cannonballs with this. I can't imagine using a ladle for bullets. It was years ago but as I grew my gear, I used all the cast iron skillets as targets. It was interesting to see what made a hole and what did not. Surprised me more than once. Your Pkg is on its way. I'm just gonna call it a pkg cuz I don't know if sending something like lead to you is allowed. I did not know it was a hazmat issue. Or is it? I used to be a cardiac critical care RN. And have had my own issues. So did you know? Casting your own bullets is calming. I think at this point your making way too much of an issue of it. Just get started and form your own opinions. You'll also come up with a lot of your own answers as well as a host of new questions. Last, I really like a cast iron skillet for cleaning up wheel weights to pour ingots. Gosh what a mess! I sort of miss it.

CANNONMAN, I much appreciate the generosity. As you suggest I think all will be fine once I get started. worst tat can happen is I have to dump everything back in the pot and start over, right! I just received the ladle and it looks practically new. Found a 356-102 mold on ebay that had an offer option so I offered and it was accepted. Saved about $7.00 over buying a new one. Still need to find a dross spoon/scrapper and an old cookie sheet and then some good gloves.

Been dealing with cardiac and vascular issues since 2001. Doesn't get any easier as now each time I already know exactly what to expect. This time they already had the IV in and blood drawn before the bed even got warm.

Sending lead is perfectly legal. How do you think cast bullet companies get the bullets to ya? USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail.

I melt my wheel weights in an old cast iron dutch oven pot. I skim off the clips with a strainer spoon I got at Walmart and a dipper from there also.

Makes sense Texas10mm, thanks. I was getting a bit worried that I wasn't going to learn something today. BTW, do you per chance hardcast and hog hunt?

I wish I was closer, but on the other side of Wis. so alittle too far away. Wish you well with your casting and if I ever get that way, will drop you a line. Take care. I have never been to Titan, but have ordered alot from them.

Thanks everyone!

CANNONMAN the whole issue from my standpoint with the lead is that it has been listed as a hazardous material and being such the scrap dealers and recyclers will not sell it to the public. Scrounging it, begging it, mining it from dirt berms is not regulated yet. As we know we can still by from places like Ebay, Midway or Rotometals. But that does raise a good question as to why those places can sell lead yet the recyclers are regulated and cannot resell to the public. I was told I would need a Hazmat License to buy from one recycler!

Well go get um KMW! Show us the pics. Wait for the praise. Heck with all the ler'n you've done I might as well place an order from you now. Hope you get a chance to hunt some hog soon Texas. We, my Wife and I, like to make sausage. Then we're bad as we'll wrap a link in a tortilla and sneak a couple into see a movie. Yummy
