Curious,

Should I avoid ordering cast lead bullets this time of year?
My concern is the lube melting during shipping, should I worry?

Would like to order from MBC, but I am in Georgia. Its hot and temps inside shipping/transportation vehicles like UPS trucks can be like ovens?

Thanks for input.

I have them sitting in my Fl garage and it's hotter here than in Ga. They are fine.

Here in 100 degree Texas the Missouri Bullets I use have never "de-lubed" when stored in my 130 degree garage.

Just my .02,

If the lube is good, it may melt or at least deform if bounced around during shipment. If the bullets are of the right hardness, they will probably arrive with lots of dents in them.

Instead, most bullet casting companies will send you bullets that are way too hard with crayon-like hard plastic lube that will withstand UPS/USPS handling and heat that could cook a pizza.

In other words, they'll be fine.

MBC uses Thompson Blue Angel lube. www.bulletlube.com Melting point is 125-140*F. If you put them in a metal can, sit them in the sun on a 100+ day the lube will melt. But in a cardboard box it might get soft, but shouldn't melt. :)

Just today I got some goex spg lubed (very soft) bullets in the mail. The box had come open and there were about 25 loose in the package. Dissapointed at first they all looked fine after inspection so I loaded them up. If they made it ok I think you'll be fine. Good luck

I've had what Tightgrouptiger mentioned. Half of my 5000 bullet order had the lube knocked out of them by rough handling by USPS during the dead of winter. The shipping boxes had busted along with a few of the individual bullet boxes. If anyone has ever order from SNS you know they do an excellent job at packaging to minimize any mishaps while in transit. SNS quickly sent out replacement as well as a return shipping label. I tend to keep my ordering cycles during warmer months now.

Lube used on the MBC bullets are good to a min of 140°F, depending on weather it's blue or brown. So there should be no problem. I keep mine in the garage here in TX, normally gets to 90°+ in the summer time. I normally store them down low on my bottom bench shelf. It's a good 10°F 1' off the floor.
