I discovered recently when reloading on my Dillon a problem with the CBC brass used by Magtech and Sellier & Bellot. The brass is about a 1/3 thicker than ordinary and when flaring and dropping powder on stage two it is a pain to do the flaring. The tool sticks in the neck and the only determination I can make is that the brass is too thick and hard to work well. Has anyone else had that problem with this brass?

I don't have a progressive press but I do load on a Lee Turret Press but I have never noticed any difference with CBC brass and I use a good amount of it. I have noticed the primer pockets seem to be slightly tighter on S&B brass than most others.

I can second ArchAngel's observation about the primer pocket. I'd throw away the S&B brass if I could bring myself to do it.

I actually like the S&B brass for it's snug primer pockets. I prime on a Ram Prime setup, not on the progressive press, so it's easier to feel the differences in primer pockets.

I load a lot of my ammunition on progressives, but I'm running already sized and primed brass through them, since I insist on cleaned primer pockets. I've had primers not seat completely due to debris buildup in the primer pockets in the past, and made the decision to never have that problem again.

As for loading MagTech and S&B brass, it's good brass. The MagTech is made in Brazil and the S&B is made in the Czech Republic, but they're both owned by the same parent company. Perhaps some reloading tools are more sensitive to differences between brass than others, but I don't have any problem loading any of them on my presses.

Hope this helps.

I didn't mean to give the impression I don't like S&B brass because I do. I was just agreeing I can't throw away anything that still works, I'm kinda ummmm ...... frugal. (yeah, I'm going with frugal lol)

I am working through a box of 3000 pieces of 9mm that came in the mail this week. As I go along I'll find one that's tight in the sizing die. When I look it says CBC on it.

I can feel them clear as day when loading on my lct. They give much more resistance when expanding and seating. I set aside all cbc and s&b to load with fmj/plated for places where i can't retrieve my brass. The thick brass is no good when loading lead bullets.

The rim diameter on cbc 38/357 is also a bit on the large side. Although not common, every time i cant fit a case in the shellholder, it is cbc.
