I'm going to be traveling out of state to Atlanta for an interview for a federal job. The interview is at a hotel due to the fact that the job in question doesn't have any offices in the area.
Concealed carry is prohibited at federal buildings (edited original statement due to clarification of the law). So while I'm staying at the hotel I assume I'm not allowed to have my firearm in the building with me on the day in question, because there will be federal employees working there. Am I correct and need to leave my firearm in the car, or am I mistaken in my interpretation of the law?

I am not comfortable with traveling to Atlanta without my firearm, so leaving it at home is out of the question.

Thank you for your help.

Question answered. Thank you for correcting the false information I learned in my CCW class.

You are mistaken in your interpretation of the law.

(g) As used in this section:
(1) The term “Federal facility” means a building or part thereof owned or leased by the Federal Government, where Federal employees are regularly present for the purpose of performing their official duties.

Also, if firearms are going to be prohibited because a building is a federal building it must be posted:
(h) Notice of the provisions of subsections (a) and (b) shall be posted conspicuously at each public entrance to each Federal facility, and notice of subsection (e) shall be posted conspicuously at each public entrance to each Federal court facility, and no person shall be convicted of an offense under subsection (a) or (e) with respect to a Federal facility if such notice is not so posted at such facility, unless such person had actual notice of subsection (a) or (e), as the case may be.

I guess my instructor was a bit...over encompassing when he went over prohibited places.

Very much so. Otherwise you would not be able to carry in McDonald's if I was in there eating lunch in uniform.

Well, heck... for that matter I wouldn't be able to carry anywhere!
