Being that the Super Bowl is in Miami this year against the Bears and the Colts, do they allow Concealed Carry in the stadium? I believe that Florida is a "shall issue" state.

If they do allow CCW, the thought of all those possible guns in the stadium and no problems just gives me a good feeling. But, I'm going to guess that they will not be allowed due to the serving of alcohol.

Do any Florida THR's know?????

No. Florida law prohibits CC at professional athletic events.

Not sure about the legality of it, but a lot of big event type places (concerts, amusment parks, stadium events) have a no weapons policy and use metal detctors at the gate. I assume it is legal because it is your choice wether you attend or not.

IANAL

Pro, intercollegiate and scholastic athletic events are off limits to carrying.

U can bet super tight security at the superbowl. I've heard news stories in the past that they have security set up with shoulder missles in case a plane tries to crash into the stadium and all sorts of other stuff...

That's one game that U aren't gonna take your gun into...

Sure...disarm all of the honest citizens so when the terrorist sneak a weapon in you won't be able to fight back. I guess you could throw your bear at them.

Not to sound anti-CCW, but the idea of people assuming they should have the right to carry in a packed stadium where alcohol is served is pretty foolish.

Someone may think they are the "King of the Range" but one shot, any shot, taken in a stadium has a high chance of hitting someone, due to the sheer volume of people.

Also, based on some of the posts on THR, some members think it is ok to "draw" during a fist fight. Anyone ever seen the stands during an Eagles game in Philly? Fights do break out. I think it is for the best they pat people down before games.

You don't like it? Watch the game from home.

There are plenty of other packed places where alcohol is served that it's legal to carry.

I would hope it hits the person you intended it to hit. Defeats the whole purpose of carrying if it doesn't. Maybe we oughta' take the guns away from the cops at the stadium too.

I'm probably going to catch a load of grief for saying this, and I know it's OT, but the best solution, IMO, is not to care about watching professional sports in the first place. I never understood people paying hundreds, even thousands of dollars for season tickets and exorbitant concession stand prices to watch a bunch of guys pushing each other around on a field for three hours.

All tactics and marksmanship aside... fact is, CCW at a sporting event is against the law in Florida. We can go to the game and not carry, or carry and not go to the game. It is what it is, all wishing to the contrary.

...and 2.5 of those hours are the guys standing around holding impromptu meetings.

I think it would be easier to sneak a pistol into the game, a bear is just too big, unless you plan on buying the extra ticket:D

I guess throwing a bear at a terrorist would be effective.
Not to worry. The Bears will handle those terrorists from IN quite well.:neener:

im a big Dolphin fan and have been to many games at the stadium and knives and guns are strickly prohibited items. you are patted down before you enter he stadium, and all your bags are checked

not to sound anti-ccw but with all the drunk people at the games (myself included  ) i think not allowing guns into the stadium is a good idea. i recall one time at a jets game a fight broke out and one man was screaming for his gun.
so if you have a gun just leave it in your car. thats perfectly safe and legal

Will also be not watching. Likely carrying, unless I'm asleep -- one of many more constructive things I could be doing at that time.

I do no go to professional sports games anymore. Since 9/11 and searching, pat downs at the door I lost all interest. As I really only enjoyed the atmosphere of the event in person, I no longer even keep up with professional sports. I enjoy interactive events. Playing the sport, or doing something else where you are an actual participant makes more sense to me than watching others play it on tv. They are not people you know, they could care less about you are even the city that owns thier current contract (regardless of what they say for the camera). It is a job, they do the job, and people support them illogicly because people enjoy the us vs them city vs city aspect wrapped up in a sport that brings back memories or something.

zoog definatly agreed i dont see why people find watching others play the game so enjoyable.... probably cause there to fat to get off the coutch and play it them selves

The exact text of the prohibition is as follows:

any school, college, or professional athletic event not related to firearms

If we can get Glock or S&W to buy primary sponsorship of the Superbowl, does that qualify as being "related to firearms"?

I have never understood the fascination with Pro sports

Sit around watching spoiled athletes playing a GAME! IT'S A GAME!!!

I used to think maybe I was just as weird since I enjoy punching holes in paper and varmints but, then I realized that I was actually DOING something.

I enjoy not watching professional sports too.

I do watch shooting shows but it is to learn techniques and tools. :)
