Forgive me if this has been covered, but I did not turn up any result with a quick search.

Can non residents legally conceal and open carry in Alaska without permit? Or is this privilege for Alaska residents only? Are vehicles okay too? I'll be visiting remote interior AK starting Nov 1st and will be hiking in bear country.

Anyone can open carry and CCW in Alaska as long as you are legally allowed to own a firearm. Make sure to observe rules of where to carry, use common sense, and you will be fine. Make sure to disclose this to a police officer if pulled over right away.

Thank you guys for the answer. An answer from a local is always good to get, too.

Just be careful how you get your pistol to Alaska.
DO NOT carry it through Canada in your car. Don't even take it in a boat if you are going to stop in Canada.

Bears should be asleep by November.
I really wouldn't worry about them that late in the year.
I'd be more worried about moose and wolves to be honest.
Just my -.02 cents.
