Well, when a women tied up and or being raped, it's a little hard to call 911 don't you think? Thus, why either having a CCW or a person close by with a CCW can be essential for survival. Did this get any coverage by the media? Nope. Will this guy get an award or some kind? Probably not. He only saved the lives of two people and killed a BG...

Brighton man kills man attacking pair of women

A Brighton man shot and killed a 44-year-old registered sex offender who attacked two women in their home early Tuesday morning, officials said.

According to Dist. Atty. Gen. Mike Dunavant, David Fleming charged into the home of two women at about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Fleming bound the women but one escaped and ran to a nearby home. Dunavant said Fleming, who lived in Munford, intended to rape the women.

The woman who escaped went to the home of Keith Ingram for help, Dunavant said.

Ingram, carrying a .40-caliber handgun, ran to the house and found Fleming attacking the other woman, officials said.

When Fleming tried to attack Ingram, Dunavant said Ingram shot Fleming once.

Tipton County Sheriff's deputies and Brighton Police officers found Fleming dead on the front porch of the home.

Fleming had been convicted of attempted rape in Tipton County. He's listed on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's sex-offender registry.

Dunavant said Ingram has no criminal record and has a permit to carry the handgun.

The women who were attacked were treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton.

TBI officials are assisting with the case. The Shelby County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy. Investigators took statements from several witnesses Tuesday. The shooting is still under investigation.

Wow. This guy is a hero. If only all neighbors looked out for each other like that.

Now, if Ingram's home was a gun-free zone, he could have manned a telephone and hoped for the best. Cold comfort for the woman being attacked, I'm sure.

And, not to belittle a working combination, but even with a caliber starting with "4", the guy must have had some confidence in only shooting once.

I'm always curious how long it takes the police to respond to these situations. Nothing mentioned in the story, but that would be a great piece of information to bring up with gun control advocates. This woman may have been murdered in the time it takes the police to respond.
 
That's a good neighbor.
Many people would not have answered the door at that time of day and would have called the cops instead.
By the time the cops came the damage would have been done and the rapist could have fled.
 
You won't hear anything about it on national news because it looks good for CHL holders and Flemming and Ingram are both minorities. Shame.

My baby sitter lives just across the street from us it her a sister and her mother. They know if something happens you come and get me. Glad to see some guys looking out for others.


I think he should have double tapped him just for good measure.
 
i disagree. he stopped the threat in one shot. turns out it was a permanent stop.

Its a good shoot and because it was just one (very good) shot, it will be likely that he won't be charge criminally or in a civil suit.

No, i'd say he did just about perfect.
 
Well, I don't know, he probably hit the guy in the lower leg and while waiting for the police to show up the perp bled to death sitting on the porch waiting. Took a couple of hours.:neener:
 
fletcher, I recognize and appreciate your sarcasm. You are right on the money, but in doing so you touch on one of my sore nerves.

That is when the media will take plain self-defense (which can and should include other innocents, not just you) and call it "vigilantism" or some version of that word.

Nobody who is preventing an assault is "taking the law into their own hands". Yet that is almost the inevitable media phrase.

Lets see....Sex offender (no mention of what his original crime that got him listed was), let out and forced to register, goes and attacks two women in their home, with intention to rape, possibly kill.

1: Why do we let them out?
2:Why are they forced to register if no one is watching them.
3:Why is it any surprise when they attack again?

Kudos to the good guy. This is one bad guy who won't drain tax dollars for years and then be released to strike again. He had his chance to learn his lesson and reform, and he decided to squander it and toss away the precious little freedom he received back, while hurting others in the process. Some people cannot change, and I think we need to better learn how to weed them out from the people who make mistakes and actually regret them.
 
Would it be uncouth to track down this guy's address, and order him a box of ammo?

Seriously, I look at this like anything else in the capital market. This is behaviour I wish to encourage. I'm absolutely willing to shell out for a box of .40 S&W to do so.

Is there anyway of us passing this news along to other people outside of The High Road. Maybe we can all post this on some other forums that we post on. I can't hope for us to get this covered even on local news let alone national. I thinking of everytime one of these stories comes along I'm going to post it on another forum.
