just picked up a CD little sharps in 44-40 win, nice looking rifle and it shoots good too. it handles 23grs imr 4227 with a 200gr horandy xtp bullet with out a wimper. it needs a larger peep hole and a new front sight(lyman 17-A). eastbank. ps i may buy one in 30-30 win.

Isn't that COOL!

Nice rifle. You'll be all set for 1,000 yd buffalo (err...100 yd. squirrel?) hunts! :D

i put both of my sharps together so you could see the size difference in the full size .54 and the little sharps 44-40. it sure is a lot lighter. eastbank.

I saw those on the website, but of course I didn't know much about them. I was tempted. I like the Sharps rifle, but I'm not necessarily up for shooting .45-70 every day.

Now that someone can vouch for one, I'm REALLY tempted.:)

Did you get to handle any other calibers? I wonder how they differ in size from each other.

I read about them. A young lady took one in 45 Colt and slayed a buffalo with it. I am not into slaying buffalo but I do like the idea of the walking around rifle.

eastbank, how much does your Lil Reliable weigh?

i,ve handled a few in,38-55, 45lc, 44-40 and a .22. they are about 6lbs,give or take a little because of bore size. i will drill out the peep sight hole alittle bigger as it,s to small for my eyes and replace the front sight with a(lyman 17-A) that has replacable blade inserts. fit and finish are above what i have come to expect for italian made guns and way above the rossie clan, and it,s above the best navy arms rossies(1892 win.clone i own). very easy to get on to its little loading and shooting quirks. what i,m trying to say is i like it,but time and shooting will tell if its up to the long haul. eastbank.

Thank you for the info. 6 pounds would make a nice stalking rifle. Maybe I'll get one and rebarrel it to 219 Zipper to replace the 1874 I had and sold back when it was not uncommon to rebarrel the old Sharps to more modern cartridges.

As for the peep sight, is the eyepiece removable? If so you might not have to drill it.

Any problems with the triggers?

strawhat, they do make it in the 22 hornet, the triggers are fine so far, loading lever is a little small for fat fingers. screw threads on aputure are course and are metric i think, as no apture of mine will fit(usa made). to adjust elevation you must loosen aputure and slide the elevator up or down and then tighten the aputure . aputure and slider are two seperate pieces, to lock the slider and aputure together you tighten the aputue into the slider at the elevation you want. no clicks or windage on the tang sight(i wish it did) and may change it in the future. over all i am vary pleased with the rifle and will cast some lead bullets as soon as it gets warm. eastbank.
