Want to float a tip for my fellow THRoaders. CDNN has a limited quantity of FN Patrol XP .308 tack drivers for sale. The complete barrelled NIB action goes for $399, whilst the Hogue/FN stock goes for $99. Two allen screws makes two into one. For a little over $500 (including shipping) you have a $1200 rifle. GO get em' boys.

Jeez. I feel like a sucker buying mine for $1200 last year from Buds. That is an absolutely insane deal.

Is there anything wrong with them in any way?

Geojap - How do you like yours? What kind of glass did you mount on it?

To be honest, I haven't sighted it in yet. I've been busy working on my house and haven't had much time to shoot lately. Every weekend I think about it though.

Just from handling it, I LOVE this rifle. It is extremely handy and feels perfectly balanced while holding it. It's a tad heavy, but I'm 240# and 6', so it's no biggie for me. It's a pretty short rifle, which adds to its handiness. The bolt and action is very, very nice. The trigger is crisp and breaks very cleanly. I'd have to guess that it's about 4 pounds or so. The free-floated barrel is really nice. The Hogue stock is perfect for me. I like that it is rubber and won't get dinged like wood.

I put an IOR Valdada 2.5x10-42mm Tactical scope on it.

These scopes have gone up by $200 since I bought mine, wow. The IOR has really, really nice glass and it's particularly well-made.

I have since put a Blackhawk target shooter's sling on it. I think $500 for an FN PBR is the best deal I've seen on a firearm in years. I will probably buy another one to give to my brother as a present or something. That is too good to pass up.

Where is a good place to buy the stock? Don't see it on the CDNN site but perhaps I missed it?

I had called CDNN a couple months ago when the action was listed in their catalog on an odds and ends page as price on request. They said they weren't selling them until stocks were available, which has obviously now happened. They told me then that no other stock would fit - i.e. Winchester Model 70 stocks would not fit. I don't know why not, but that's what they said.

The ad mentions that it comes with 1 detachable magazine. I'm not aware of any Winchester with a detachable magazine and that may explain why a Winchester stock will not fit. I'm not real familiar with the FN rifle either but have handled a few and don't recall them having detachable mags either. I would check on the availability of spare mags and their prices before ordering one.

After a little research it seems that the rifle is offered with a floorplate or with detachable magazine. I have not seen the detachable mag version yet. I still have not been able to find a source for magazines. CDNN does not show them on their website.

Well guys just ordered mine about an hour ago total cost was $522.96 shipped:D plus FFL fees of $10.00 not bad, And was just in at my local shop he had one for $950.00 plus tax, that was with the 20" barrel i ordered the 24" barrel.

The shop wanted over $1000.00 + tax to order one with the 24" barrel.
So i think i did good will post pics when i get her in the next 2 or 3 days and put her together.

Seems like a really good deal. I won't buy handguns from CDNN anymore since they decided they had to go PC and quit listing handgun prices after the VT shooting. But I suppose I'd buy a longgun or accessory from them. I'm wondering if that Bernardelli 12 ga target semi-auto shottie for $479 or some such is a good deal. Wish I "needed" a .308, but I'm going to just go for the gusto and hold out for the 12 F Class PTR in 6.5-284, for a precision rifle.

??? Why? On what their website. I just get the catalog and it has everything but MAP prices.

I really, really doubt that CDNN "went PC." More likely they were told by lawyers not to list prices in the online catalog. Handgun prices are still listed in the print catalog, except for a handful of guns that are "POR", probably because the manufacturer prohibits listing the low price.

A couple catalogs ago CDNN also printed the stupid stuff they were putting up with on credit card processing - Citibank cancelled them, claiming that they were illegally selling guns online, with some of the most poorly worded anti-gun BS I've ever seen.

I've bought lots from CDNN and all has been great. I've had minor problems with accessories twice, and both times they fixed the problem right away with no hassle. Great outfit.

I really like CDNN. I would buy virtually all my supplies for them, except that they are in my state so I have to pay sales tax.

Gunlover -

DO they come with a green or black stock?

They said black was all they had but that's ok with me can always do a little painting on it myself if i don't like what they send.

Ordered my SA XD9 from them about a month ago best deal on it anywhere that i could find gave $485.00 for it with all the gear extra mag and that included shipping and FFL fees.

If their website bothers you so much, just poke your finger twelve times on your telephone keypad (1-800-588-9500) and ask them to add you to their catalog mailing list.

They'll be happy to do that and you'll be getting all the prices six or seven times a year...

CDNN sells top notch stuff at great prices, and they also have one of the most knowledgeable and friendly sales staffs of any company in any business...

I buy stuff from them...:)

No, actually, going PC is precisely what they did. There's no way on earth additional liability could accrue due to listing PRICES for guns which are PERFECTLY LEGAL to sell. Absolutely not. No liability. Absolutely 100% PC, in 100% direct response to the VT shootings, immediately afterward. No laws changed then or since then on the subject. If pricing can add to liability, then Bud's guns, Impact Guns, and everyone on gunbroker, auction arms, guns america must all have really crappy lawyers who do not advise them of such things.

And no, I don't want to kill trees so large chunks of paper can be stuck in my mailbox - that's why we HAVE the internet. PC = no buy. Come to think of it, their PC BS hacks me off so much I don't think I'd buy from them at all.

Now back to your regularly-scheduled thread. :)

Well, think whatever you want. As a lawyer, I can tell you not all lawyers reach the same conclusions when looking at the same facts. Maybe their lawyer is extra cautious. Maybe CDNN is extra cautious. If you look at the nice stuff they sell and their presumably thin profit margins, they sure don't want to defend even one bad lawsuit.

Anyway, buy from who you want... you'll be leaving more inventory at CDNN for me to choose from!
